Head - R&D - Chemicals

Qualifications and other relevant inputs:

Qualification : Ph.D (Organic Chemistry), Post-Doctoral studies (preferred)

Experience : Relevant years of experience as Head in R&D of Pharmaceuticals, Specialty Chemicals , Agrochemicals, Fine Chemicals, including Bio Pesticides in the area of organic synthesis.

Purpose of the Job :

- New product introduction in the area of Pharma / Specialties chemicals /Agrochemicals / Fine chemicals and Biopesticide by developing and scaling up in time with commercially viability in line with business requirement .

- To manage various projects related to Agrochemicals, Pharma, Specialty Chemicals, Fine Chemicals and Bio-pesticides meeting the requirement of IMS, RCMS, NABL, GLP including other relevant statutes.

Job Description (Indicative only):

- New product introduction in the area of Agrochemicals / Pharma / Fine / Specialty Chemicals including Biopesticides.

- Developing and scaling up keeping commercially viability in line with business requirement.

- Ensuring transfer of technologies smoothly from R&D- > Process Development Lab - > Pilot- > Manufacturing for commercialization of improved / new technologies and products.

- Proper evaluation and outsourcing projects to suitable laboratories and technology centers for esp. in cases which require special technology and meeting fast timelines for development.

- Evaluation of backward integration including suitability of existing process / product to sustain in the business.

- Identify scope for improvement by revisit existing processes.

- Help in evaluating launching of new formulation products.

- Support in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

- Prioritize projects based on business needs.

- Coaching & mentoring team of scientists to develop processes which are cost effective, involve least hazardous RMs and generates least effluents.

- Encourage scientists to enhance their knowledge base on new technologies, safety and environment protection.

- Extend technical / administrative support to scientists working on the projects.

- Collaborate with the key functions, viz. Domestic Retails S&M, Exports, Registration & RA and PD, Manufacturing, Technology & Projects and QC to understand the short, medium and long term needs and accordingly prioritize and monitor R&D projects.

- Team Development - KRAs & KPIs / Reviews / Training / Mentoring / Recognition etc.
