Role

- Draft Public Affairs policy for the group, and ensure adherence

- Liaise with government ministries, facilitating MoUs and obtaining approvals

- Conduct all land-acquisition related activities

- Act as custodian of environmental licenses

KRAs

- Draft and regularly revise standardized Public Affairs policies for entire organization, and ensure adherence

- Support business development - getting access to coal mines and bidding for new projects

- Liaise with government ministries, facilitating MoUs and obtaining approvals

- Conduct feasibility analyses of new projects before signing MoUs with government

- Sign MoUs with central government for new projects

- Obtain approvals from central and state governments for new projects

- Oversee all land-acquisition related activities

- Monitor land acquisition at all sites, and ensure that it is progressing as per plan

- Ensure all relocation and rehabilitation is managed smoothly

- Act as custodian of environmental licenses

- Oversee obtaining and renewal of environmental clearances for projects

- Convene and coordinate between various states and central ministries

- Ensure standard policies, responses and stances for all ministries

- Coordinate issues that cross central/state boundaries

- Fulfil business-specific responsibilities

- Work with ministry of Mines, Power, Steel & Coal for allocation of coal blocks

- Acquire exploration rights and scout for opportunities for new mines

- Support signing of purchase agreements for sale of Power

- Help in acquiring licenses for transmission lines

- Build the desired organisation with best-in-class processes and capabilities

- Ensure that the required organization is established as planned

- Foster the professional growth of team members through coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback

Qualifications

- Work experience: 20+ years Public Affairs experience

- 5+ years experience heading Public Affairs in leading Indian firm in heavily regulated industry

- Education: MBA, preferably in Business and Public Policy

- Strong network within central government

- Superior ability to build relationships with senior leaders

- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

- Focus on closing and finalizing issues

- Strong leadership capabilities, ability to lead a multi-location team
