Head - Product/Underwriting - Health - InsureTech

Client is India's first and only all-digital insuretech product company. Through innovative digital products, customised pricing and use of data and technology, they are changing how insurance works, and is perceived by users in India.

Although they are solving for the Indian market and are based out of Bangalore, they are part of a global wave of insurtech startups that are creating success through technology and business model disruption - ZhongAn in China, Oscar, Lemonade, Root in the US.

They are a well-funded series-C company backed by a slate of marquee investors including Binny Bansal, Amazon, Ascent capital, Accel, SAIF and Catamaran.

Health is the second largest and fastest growing category in insurance. It is a highly underpenetrated market with many opportunities for innovation and improvement of customer experience. They are launching health insurance as a new business line and are looking for rockstars to join the team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Be responsible for underwriting employer/employee and affinity group health clients (B2B) and their employees or group members (B2B2C)

- Partner with internal sales teams, intermediaries and clients to pitch Client capabilities and negotiate for closure of quotations

- Work closely with product, technology and analytics teams to build platforms for underwriting and portfolio analytics

- Lead a team of underwriters for end-to-end management of day to day operations

- Ensure good turn around time on quotations requests, optimize quote conversions and profitability of accounts and the portfolio

Candidate Specifications :

- Sharp analytical mind, who enjoys thinking on their feet and devising innovative solutions to complex insurance product design and pricing problems

- Experience in Health actuarial or B2B underwriting

- Someone who has worked closely with product or sales teams for product design discussions for clients or B2B price negotiations

- Successful leadership and people management experience

- 4-5 years of experience in insurance, broker, consulting or reinsurance firms

- Above average educational background
