Head - Plant Physiology & Biochemistry

Position Specifications:

- Doctorate degree in Plant Physiology / Plant Biochemistry from a university / research institute of repute pref from Panth Nagar, Punjab Agri University or Haryana Agricultural University.

- 10 to 15 years of experience in conducting research (pref. with IARI) on plant physiology / biochemistry with focus on assessing nutrition requirements of crops and crop physiological systems impacting the same.

- Experience as HoD will be considered as additional advantage.

- This position will report to Head of Plant Nutrition Services. Number of reportees to this role will be around 2-3 scientists.

- Requirement Candidates should have a deep understanding of basic and applied crop physiology, bio chemistry and analytical chemistry for nutrient testing and understanding of nutrient uptake movement pathways in major crops like Rice, Wheat, Cotton, Sugarcane, Potato etc.

- Candidate should also have a keen bent of mind to understand and analyse the latest developments in areas of crop physiology and crop nutrition, new products and application of this latest research in developing solutions and products to provide the improved crop nutrition solutions as per organization requirements.

Ability to work in team and understand other’s view points are must KRAs:

- Build and maintain close formal / informal relationships with reputed institutions in India and abroad in the field of Crop Physiology so as to improve knowledge, as well as get the product development / secondary research done in the shortest and most economical manner possible.

- Travel and meet farmers and other stakeholders in the market to gather information on soil conditions and crop practices, identify gaps with regard to nutrient requirements and align it to the knowledge available, and work with the other members in PNS team towards developing new products/ solutions.

- Contribute towards development of new products as per plan.

- Identify future nutritional requirements of crops and soils and work in team to convert them into commercially viable products.

Key Outcomes:

- Develop knowledge base of crop physiology focusing on processes impacting nutrient requirements across all crops.

- Develop and assess forms and formulations of new products (Foliar, Soil, Drip etc.) taking into account physiological requirements of crops targeted/ evaluated.

- Use the knowledge base to drive business interactions across vertical heads for development of new and novel crop nutrition products.
