Head of Operational Planning
- Provides senior level facilitation, consultative and decision-making support to executive management on strategic plans, business development initiatives and integration activities.
- Provides independent project support for highly complex projects touching multiple system areas with widely varying scope; able to shift between planning and integration initiatives.
- Business integration lead with overall accountability for the full business transformation strategy.
- To manage the full end to end operational planning life cycle and to drive the continuous improvement agenda for Operations.
- To support delivery of the full planning portfolio to defined timelines and ensure the realisation of associated business benefits.
- To provide technical direction and support to Operational functions, focused on ensuring the design, development and implementation of productivity and cost saving related projects / initiatives.
- To support the design and implementation of new commercial propositions, ensuring a smooth transition from concept to end user implementation.
- To identify and implement key system based enhancements that increase operational efficiency and reduce operational cost.
- To re-define the existing operating model ensuring optimal labour resource mix aligned to excellent service and a reduced operational cost base.
- Create and manage the standard operating process portfolio and ensure alignment to future strategic requirements.
- Lead and manage multiple functional project teams operating across Branch/ sort centre and transport based functions.
- Take responsibility for personal and team performance, training and development in line with defined objectives and KPI's.
- Ensure secure protection of people and assets across the operation.
- Lead as an - agent of change-, for the Operation through business improvement and cultural change.
- Central lead on the organisational transformation agenda, leading in change initiatives/projects.
- Lead strategic project work, taking ownership for delivery of assigned programmes.
- Complete capacity planning exercise to establish maximum operating volumes.
- Work with internal /external partners to secure facilities and design future operational blueprint.
- Research and trial future solutions to drive productivity, reduce cost and increase operational efficiency.
- Understand and assess the operational impact of new clients and product offerings.
Qualification, Experience & Skill Sets :
1. Significant experience (18 years +) within Express Operation logistics environment.
2. Significant project/programme management experience in a logistics related environment.
3. Qualified Six Sigma practitioner. Proven application of Six Sigma methodology within operational logistics environment.
4. Expert level Paragon routing experience and ability to implement across operational function.
5. Proven application of Network Design applications such as CAST.
6. Excellent project/programme management experience and skills
7. Excellent general business and operational management experience.
8. Previous management of a - Standard Operating Process- portfolio across operational business units.
