Role purpose :
- National Merchant development head responsible for partnering in conceptualizing the merchant business strategy including driving the engagement models, developing business opportunities in the online and offline merchant space, utility providers, e-governance agencies, DTH, insurance, credit card payment etc thereby providing more opportunities for a customer to use mobile payments System as a currency.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership :
- Build the Merchant business strategy and lead the execution of the same thereby delivering the budgeted through put
- Work closely with the product, IT and CS teams to deliver the product offerings
- Working out the key roles their responsibilities and the governance in managing
- Work closely with the trainers at the circles as well as corporate to build the merchant sales capabilities within the organisation
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- Should have done a significant Merchant acquisition role in the financial sector. Should have prior experience in the various facets of this sector including the charges and the opportunity areas
- Excellent stake holder management since the execution is to be done through online merchants and aggregators as the support functions at the circles
- The role requires experience of managing remote teams and their deliveries - building the governance models and then reviewing actuals v/s plan
- Prior experience of working in a start up is desirable. Having experience in Corporate Banking (Large Corporates) is mandatory.
Must have technical / professional qualifications :
- MBA with at least 12 -15 years of post MBA experience significant financial services Sales experience especially in the merchant network eco system
Budget owned : Merchant network through put as defined in the DB
Key performance indicators :
- Setting up the Merchant business through direct tie ups and or the aggregator model thereby increasing the opportunity of replacing card, internet banking and cash as payment option
- Deliver the merchant business targets at the budgeted contribution margins - through aggressive customer acquisition and thereafter effective base management
- Skill building to handle the merchant business at the circles Direct reports
