Head of Petrochemical's marketing for North India


Job Title : General Manager- Marketing (Regional Manager-North)


Location : Delhi (Northern Regional Office) NRO

Department : Marketing

A. Purpose: The main purpose of this role is to lead the journey towards excellence in Marketing by providing leadership to all aspects of Marketing (Sales, Business Development, Customer Service), in the process make the most desirable partner for customers and enabling human resources in order to contribute sustainable competitive advantage.

B. Reporting & Supervisory Relationships :

Reports to : SVP, Head- Marketing & Commodity Business

Direct Reports :

1. Chief Manager- Marketing (2 Nos.)

2. Asst. Manager- Marketing (1 No.)

Administrative Reports :

1. DGM - Product Development & Technical Support (1 No.)

2. GM - Marketing Finance (1 No.)

Team Size :

- Total team size of 8 (Management and Member) employees in Delhi Regional Office

- Internal Business Process interaction:

- Interacts with HO- Product Group, Business Development, Marketing Finance, Product Development & Technical Support, HR & Admin etc., regularly

C. Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

1. Responsible for achieving volume/market share/contribution targets as per Business Plan (~140000 Metric Tonnes of Polymers)

2. Enhancing contribution through Business Development / Market Development, Sales of Focus Grades (Pipe grades, PPCP, PP power) in the Northern Region

3. Market Intelligence : Monitoring the sales of competition, tracking imports and devise strategies to counter competition strategies. Monitoring finished product requirements of end use industry, requirements from Government projects and apprise the relevant customers towards maximizing sales

4. Providing benchmark customer service to maintain competitive advantage

5. Monitoring Financial and Accounting discipline in Regional Operations

6. Visit major customers. Monitor working of channel partner (DCA/CSA), their credit limits and timely despatches

7. Guiding the team in planning their targets and review performance periodically

8. Empowering and delegating responsibilities to all positions in the region. Career development of team and succession planning

9. Leading the team by example and orientated towards problem solving in a collaborative framework

10. Should be able to relate to all employees and motivate them to achieve highest levels of employee productivity

D. Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree in (Polymer/Chemical) Engineering from an institute of repute, preferably with Post Graduate Diploma / MBA in Marketing Management

E. Experience : Around 25-30 years of post-qualification experience in Polymer and Chemicals Marketing with 8-10 years- experience in leadership position handling a Region (preferably North India) of large Petrochemical Company with annual revenue over INR 5000 Crores.

F. Knowledge :

1. In-depth understanding of petrochemical business

2. Comprehensive knowledge about the market and products

3. Good communication and negotiation skill for effective customer relationship management

4. Knowledge of Business Finance and Quantitative Analysis for decision making

G. Skills & Behaviour :

1. The incumbent needs to be a strong leader with an ability to personally counsel employees at all levels below him in the organisation, in general and in Marketing function, in particular.

2. He must have good commercial acumen, be a persuasive communicator, politically savvy, possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and be capable of thinking strategically.

3. He should have an excellent man-management skills and building relationships, especially with external and internal people, at the senior level.
