Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to promote and oversee study abroad programs
- Manage the daily operations of the study abroad center, including program logistics and student services
- Collaborate with academic departments to identify and develop study abroad opportunities aligned with curricular goals
- Establish and maintain relationships with international partner institutions and program providers
- Oversee the selection and orientation of study abroad participants, ensuring compliance with program requirements
- Provide guidance and support to students regarding program selection, application processes, and pre-departure preparations
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of study abroad programs, implementing improvements as needed
- Manage the budget, financial resources, and administrative functions of the study abroad center
- Supervise and coach staff, promoting teamwork and professional development
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety guidelines for study abroad activities
- Promote intercultural understanding and global citizenship among students and staff
- Conduct outreach and marketing efforts to increase awareness and participation in study abroad programs
- Handle crisis management and emergency response for study abroad participants
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to international education initiatives
- Represent the study abroad center at internal and external events, conferences, and meetings
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in international education, international relations, higher education administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred
- Proven experience in leading study abroad or international education programs, such as coordinating international exchange programs or managing study abroad offices
- In-depth knowledge of study abroad policies, regulations, and best practices
- Strong understanding of intercultural dynamics, with experience working in a diverse and multicultural environment
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a track record of team management and mentorship
- Proficiency in budget management, financial planning, and resource allocation
- Ability to navigate complex logistical challenges and adapt to changing circumstances
- Familiarity with risk management and emergency response protocols for study abroad programs
- Proficiency in using relevant technology and software for program management and student communication
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in study abroad initiatives
- Flexibility and adaptability to travel domestically and internationally, as well as work occasional evenings and weekends
- Experience in developing and implementing marketing and recruitment strategies for study abroad programs
- Knowledge of student advising and support services in a higher education setting.
