Position Details :
Position Title: AGM/DGM Legal
Location: Durg, Chhattisgarh
Experience: 15+
Qualification: LLB
Purpose of the role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant General Manager (AGM) or Deputy General Manager (DGM) to lead the legal function at our greenfield integrated steel plant. The incumbent will be responsible for handling both litigation and non-litigation matters to ensure legal compliance and protection of the company's interests.
Key Responsibilities:
Land-Related Legal Matters:
- Oversee land acquisition processes, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Handle title verification, documentation, and resolution of disputes related to land acquisition.
- Liaise with government authorities and stakeholders for approvals and permissions.
Factory-Related Legal Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with factory laws, including health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Address legal issues related to construction, plant setup, and operations.
- Represent the organization in audits, inspections, and hearings before regulatory bodies.
Labor and Employment Legal Matters:
- Manage compliance with labor laws, including handling cases under the Industrial Disputes Act, Shops and Establishments Act, and other relevant laws.
- Resolve disputes with workers and labor unions, ensuring smooth industrial relations.
- Draft and review employment contracts, standing orders, and related policies.
Civil and Criminal Cases:
- Represent the organization in civil and criminal cases, coordinating with external legal counsel as needed.
- Handle litigation, including preparing pleadings, evidence, and arguments for court proceedings.
- Proactively manage and mitigate legal risks through effective case management and strategy.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Draft, vet, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
- Ensure timely filing of statutory reports and returns as per legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive legal records for the organization.
Stakeholder Management:
- Liaise with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with external legal counsel and consultants.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: LLB/LLM from a recognized university.
- Experience: 15+ years of experience in legal functions, preferably in the steel or manufacturing industry, with significant exposure to greenfield projects.
- Strong expertise in land acquisition, labor laws, and factory-related legal matters.
- Proven track record of handling civil and criminal litigation.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks related to large-scale industrial projects
