Role: Head - Legal

Designation / Position: Deputy General Manager (Legal)

Location : Kolkata

Job Requirements :

- Candidate should have relevant work experience of minimum 20 years, either in corporate or legal firms or through individual practice.

- Candidate should have a good academic record throughout his academic career.

- Candidate should be thorough with the provisions, rules and regulations of The Electricity Act, 2003.

- Candidate should have prior experience in handling legal matters related to different aspects of the Company with primary focus on billing of energy meters, supply of electricity, pilferage of electricity with respect to both HT & LT consumers and property disputes.

- Candidate should be able to handle legal cases ranging from lower courts to the Supreme Court of India.

- Candidates with prior experience in legal department of Power Distribution companies will be preferred.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities :

- Provide leadership and ensure efficient and effective management of staff and resources in the Legal department.

- Review ongoing cases and advice management accordingly.

- Review progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers.

- Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.

- Review contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.

- Continuously monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise management accordingly.
