A prominent organization in the music and film industry is seeking an experienced Head of Legal to lead its legal function.

This role involves overseeing all legal aspects of the business, ensuring compliance, managing intellectual property rights, and supporting strategic business decisions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Oversee and manage all legal matters, including contracts, compliance, and litigation, specific to the music and film industry.

- Provide strategic legal advice to senior management to ensure business decisions comply with legal requirements.

- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to intellectual property, licensing, distribution, artist management, production, and partnerships.

- Manage intellectual property portfolios, ensuring proper protection and enforcement of copyrights, trademarks, and other related rights.

- Handle disputes and litigation effectively, coordinating with external counsel when necessary.

- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and relevant laws, including copyright, entertainment, and labor laws.

- Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and ensure operational efficiency.

- Stay updated on legal trends and developments in the music and film industry to proactively address potential risks.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, marketing, and finance, to support business goals.

- Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals, fostering growth and professional development.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

- LLB or equivalent degree; additional qualifications like LLM or specialization in intellectual property law are preferred.

- 6-15 years of legal experience, preferably in the music, film, or entertainment industry.

- Expertise in copyright laws, intellectual property rights, and entertainment contracts.

- Strong negotiation and communication skills.

- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Strategic thinking with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating legal risks.

- Experience in handling litigation and dispute resolution is a plus.

- Ability to work collaboratively with creative and business teams
