We are seeking an experienced and strategic Legal Head to oversee and direct all legal functions within the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives. This role will partner effectively with both internal and external stakeholders to manage high-level contract negotiations and litigation while focusing on corporate law, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
As the Legal Head, you will be a key advisor to senior leadership, guiding the organization through complex legal matters while promoting a culture of compliance and legal excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing Requests from Legal Authorities:
- Act as the primary liaison for managing and responding to requests from various legal authorities.
- Prepare, compile, and submit required documentation in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of all communications and submissions related to these requests.
Contract Management:
- Oversee the review, negotiation, and finalization of contracts and agreements.
- Establish and enforce best practices for contract management, ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
- Provide expert guidance on complex contractual issues and resolve disputes effectively.
Litigation Management:
- Manage litigation matters by working closely with external legal counsel and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective resolutions.
- Provide regular updates to leadership and relevant stakeholders on all case developments.
- Maintain accurate tracking of litigation matters and ensure thorough documentation.
Advisory Role:
- Offer strategic legal advice to senior management on various business matters, including corporate governance and risk management.
- Assess regulatory risks related to new business initiatives and propose solutions to mitigate potential challenges.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the legal team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide opportunities for professional growth within the legal team.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary liaison for all legal matters, engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with partner law firms to ensure timely legal responses and resolutions.
- Liaise with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and external partners to ensure compliance with relevant laws.
Legal Research and Policy Development:
- Conduct in-depth legal research on ongoing cases, regulatory requirements, and emerging legal trends.
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the organization and develop policies related to legal affairs.
What We Are Looking for:
Technical Expertise:
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of corporate law, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Contract Management: Proven experience in negotiating and managing complex contracts and agreements.
- Litigation Experience: Extensive experience overseeing litigation and collaborating with external counsel.
Execution and Delivery:
- Strategic Mindset: Ability to align legal strategies with business objectives, driving organizational success.
- Sense of Urgency: Prioritize and address urgent legal issues promptly to mitigate risks and protect the organization's interests.
- Problem Solving and Analysis: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex legal issues and provide effective solutions.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's Degree: LLB or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Master's Degree: LLM or equivalent is preferred.
Experience:
Over 15 years of corporate legal experience, with at least 5-8 years in a leadership role.
