Job Summary:
The Legal Head is responsible for overseeing all legal matters and providing strategic legal counsel to the organization. This position involves managing the legal department, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks, and contributing to the organization's overall success.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Strategy: Develop and implement the organization's legal strategy in alignment with its business goals and objectives.
Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal advice and guidance to the executive leadership team, board of directors, and other key stakeholders.
Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and review of contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the organization complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Risk Management: Identify and manage legal risks, including litigation and regulatory challenges, and implement strategies to mitigate them.
Intellectual Property: Protect the organization's intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
Mergers and Acquisitions: Lead legal due diligence efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships, and provide legal support during transactions.
Corporate Governance: Oversee corporate governance matters, including board meetings, governance policies, and regulatory filings.
Litigation Management: Manage all legal disputes, litigation, and claims involving the organization, including coordination with external legal counsel.
Compliance Training: Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees to promote awareness and adherence to legal and ethical standards.
Legal Team Management: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing legal team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Budget Management: Manage the legal department's budget effectively and efficiently.
External Relations: Maintain relationships with external legal firms, regulatory agencies, and relevant industry associations.
Qualifications:
- LLB with minimum 10 yrs of experience in a legal leadership role, preferably from a renowned law firm.
- Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-making.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
