Head - Legal & Credit - Bank/LPO

We have an opening for Head - Legal & Credit for Bangalore location.

Main Mission :

The Head of the Bangalore Legal [and Credit Teams] will

- Supervise a team of 27 lawyers and par-legals and ensure performance is in line with the SLA KPIs

- Assist the Global Head of MAN in improving the target operating model the Bangalore Hub for the legal boarding process globally

- Oversee the Credit Analysis team for Investment Banking comprising of 13 analysts

Main responsibilities :

Legal Role :

- Responsible for leading teams in managing, preparing and negotiating and recording in referential database ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Agreements, Give Ups, Global Master Repurchase Agreements and Securities Lending Agreements and clearing documents for a variety of clients.

The Head of Bangalore Legal will :

- Work closely with the onshore Hubs and in turn with KYC teams, credit department, risk department, the sales coverage and Operations.

- Effectively manage a challenging and changing portfolio of clients and assist on implementing financial services new regulation and related projects;

- Contribute to the global transformation of better Legal On-boarding

- Identify and find ways to reduce legal risk and optimize productivity of the Legal team

- Identify and ensure compliance with internal policies and escalation procedures;

- Leverage best practices and structure/standardize the activities within teams across regions;

- Able to manage resource allocation and utilization, and resource training;

- Able to manage day to day operations with ontime delivery as per the given quality standards as defined under the SLA (as amended from time to time);

- Able to interact with the Front office teams to define priority;

- Able to clearly define KPIs and KRIs and work towards improving the quality and standards of output from the offshore entity;

- Proactive governance with all regional and global teams;

- Able to proactively contribute to global initiatives to improve the process;

- Ability to present matters steering committees and other senior meetings independently within the global organisation;

- Provide a career path to the team which will have diverse competencies;

- Have a strong force of proposal and ability to put across ideas to global stakeholders; and

- Develop others, build a high performing team and provide a career path to the team which will have diverse competencies.

- Manage the Credit Analysis team responsible for the credit assessment and rating of the Corporate and Investment Banking clients;

- Ability to use Business development tactics to grow new business or expand current services to new geographies or New Business Lines;

Required competencies :

Technical / Functional skills :

- Overall 15+ years experience and at least 5+ years of experience as Senior In House Legal Counsel / Head of Legal Dept. with a strong experience working in an onshore location and Europe in particular

- Prior exp in an MNC bank OR in an LPO in India is preferred

- LL B or LL M (UK/US) / ACS or FCS / Preferable to have foreign legal qualification

- Experience in providing legal and trading/clearing documentation support to an investment bank operating globally in connection with derivatives transactions, stock lending and borrowing activities, together with execution and clearing services

- Good understanding of the global markets and cross border regulation is preferred
