Position Summary:
Drive process improvement, best practice sharing, financial compliance and control structure across all entities and divisions within our India operations. Initial responsibility for driving financial process improvement will focus on balance sheet controls and reconciliations. Longer-term objective is to assist the Finance Head (CFO) in driving synergies, integration and efficiency initiatives across the India organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary (Direct Ownership)
Build and monitor control environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Month end account reconciliation reviews and corrective action planning where appropriate
- Month end balance sheet analytical reviews
- Drive checklist methodology in all areas of financial accounting and management reporting, financial operations and taxation
- Evaluating current policies and procedures for effectiveness and driving change when necessary
- Training staff on proper policies and procedures and serving as an advisor for the controllers to better understand current accounting requirements
- Assisting the FP&A and management team in evaluating accounting implications on proposed business transactions
- Ensure any potential impact of accounting changes communicated in the quarterly accounting and treasury newsletter are pushed down to the sites as appropriate
- Drive consistency in financial reporting (financial statement line item consistency and integrity across all divisions)
- Drive controls and compliance enhancement through structured processes review in the areas of financial accounting, reporting, financial operations, supply chain operations and commercial operations,
- Evaluate all applicable site audit reports and ensure audit points are remediated not only at the site audited, but across all sites if applicable
- Provide independent financial oversight of key risk areas to ensure compliance with local, corporate and external financial policies and controls
- Including but not limited to: Revenue recognition cut-off testing, shipping terms control, spot check of finance department policy compliance
- Provide oversight and management of the internal audits to ensure the finance and local management groups are providing an adequate level of support and that final audit points are accurate and appropriately communicated.
Secondary (support):
- Assist function leaders in assessing control environment and developing standardized processes (examples include commercial pricing, supply chain physical inventory/cycle counts, etc)
- Coordinating quarterly site reviews performed by senior management
- Support coordination of statutory and tax audits across entities for timely closure and filing.
- Assist other finance managers in identifying process improvements and implementing change in their functional areas.
- Function as a key member of the Finance team providing support to team members and financial leadership as needed.
- Along with the Finance Director, serve as the champion for all finance related PPI projects
- Ad hoc projects as required
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and 8+ years experience
- CA and / or CPA certification required
- Ability to travel including global (flexible, ad hoc travel)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Candidate must be extremely detailed, and solution and results oriented
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail (emphasis on accuracy and timeliness) while being able to
step back and analyze the overall business impact.
- Proven project management experience with successful results.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage by influence.
- Financial audit experience in modern SOX environment.
- Excellent organization skills
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards
(GAAS)
