- Responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing drug formulations, overseeing the entire process from pre-formulation studies to clinical trial batches, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to successfully launch new products; key responsibilities include leading formulation scientists, managing project timelines, driving innovation, and ensuring quality throughout the development cycle.

Key responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

- Manage a team of formulation scientists, overseeing their work on developing new drug formulations across different dosage forms (tablets, capsules, injectables, etc.).

Formulation Development Strategy:

- Design and implement strategic plans for formulation development, including identifying critical quality attributes and utilizing Quality by Design (QbD) principles.

Pre-formulation Studies:

- Lead pre-formulation studies to evaluate drug properties and select appropriate excipients for optimal drug delivery.

Experimental Design and Execution:

- Oversee the design and execution of laboratory experiments to optimize formulation parameters, including stability studies.

Scale-up and Technology Transfer:

- Ensure seamless transition of developed formulations from lab-scale to manufacturing scale, including process validation and technology transfer to production sites.

Regulatory Compliance:

- Guarantee all formulation development activities adhere to relevant regulatory guidelines (FDA, EMA) throughout the product lifecycle.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

- Work closely with other departments like clinical research, analytical development, and manufacturing to ensure smooth project execution.

Project Management:

- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for formulation development projects.

Innovation and New Technologies:

- Identify and implement new technologies or approaches to enhance formulation development capabilities.

Mentorship and Training:

- Provide guidance and training to junior formulation scientists on technical skills and regulatory compliance.

Qualification And Experience:

- Should have significant experience of 8-10 years in formulation development

- Deep understanding of drug delivery mechanisms, excipients, and formulation design principles.

- Expertise in QbD principles and regulatory requirements for drug development.

- Proven leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of scientists.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot formulation challenges.

- Experience with statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE).

- Proven track record of successful product formulations.

- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and guidelines.

- Excellent project management and leadership skills.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Technical writing.
