Role Summary:
- The Head of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) is responsible for driving safety standards and practices in line with industry best practices and compliance guidelines.
- This role involves managing HSE activities, conducting audits, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:.
- Ensure compliance and effective implementation of safety standards and procedures.
- Implement Health Safety Management & Process Safety Management Systems, monitor performance, and develop improvement plans.
- Conduct mock drills, provide guidance on Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), and perform job safety analysis to align procedures with safety standards.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Promote a culture of safety by training safety teams, encouraging the reporting of unsafe acts, and driving behavioral safety initiatives.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, occupational health surveys, and field audits.
- Collaborate with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) teams to execute HSE interventions effectively.
- Deploy learnings from safety incidents and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Focus on digital transformation and upgrade existing safety systems in line with best-in-class industry practices.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Conduct safety awareness training on policies, procedures, and loss prevention principles.
Skills & Competencies :
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of safety procedures, especially in open cast mining (minimum 2 years in this domain).
- Regulatory Compliance : Experience in handling compliance with safety regulations and liaising with governmental bodies.
- Problem Solving : Strong analytical skills to investigate incidents and implement solutions.
- Leadership : Proven track record of leading safety initiatives and managing cross-functional teams.
- Digitalization : Experience with safety system upgrades and implementing digital tools for process improvements.
