Head - Engineering - Data Sciences

This position is based out of Tokyo,Japan.

What does the role entail?

You will be required to scale Data Sciences engineering and technology. The Head of Engineering will be responsible for both the technical direction and growth of community of engineers and data scientists.

- Drive technical vision, strategy, and architecture. Recruit and manage team of software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists while growing and developing future leaders.

- Elevate the companies data sciences and engineering brand through published work and public speaking events Improving development process, with a focus on regular high-quality releases that align with our business priorities.

- Developing a process for experimentation where engineers and data scientists are empowered to rapidly test and deploy their ideas

- Advising the team on selection of open source and third-party tools and platforms to increase our development efficiency and improve our technology and product offerings Planning and allocating resources appropriately between platforms, products, and more

- Championing a culture of measurement, accountability and quality

- Continuing to evolve our data governance and data protection practices Maintaining and optimizing for budget including infrastructure Optimizing organization productivity across multiple locations and time zones Track record of creating & delivering innovative products for B2B, B2B2C, SaaS (Software as a Service), DaaS (Data as a Service), and or PaaS (Platform as a Service).

What are our expectations from you?

Leadership and management of a large (at least 30, ideally 100+), growing team of data scientist and engineers through several evolutions of process and organization

- Technical depth in data sciences, personalization, scaling, big data technologies, application performance, analytics API platforms, Kafka, and more

- 15 + years of experience out of which atleast the last 5+ years of demonstrable experience managing big data with global scaled applications

- Outstanding people manager; ability to influence and engage direct, indirect reports and peers

- Track record of mentorship at a distinguished engineering company and developed a set of engineering management best practices
