Head - Engineering/CTO - eCommerce Firm

As a seasoned and dynamic leader, the Head of Engineering will engage business leaders, technology, product & marketing teams to create an agile based collaborative and innovative organization capable of adeptly using new and emerging technologies while working on the very edge of India's growing online market.

The Head of Engineering/CTO will set the overall direction for the company's technology, and for the technology strategy that will support current and future growth. Background in at-scale Internet platform development from scratch, good understanding of modern hardware and software storage technologies, experience building out a rich mobile application platform, and experience hardening application and technology platforms to sustain growth are critical parts of this role.

Key Accountabilities :

- Work closely with the CEO to develop an outside-in perspective on a technology-enabled competitive advantage.

- Build a top-flight technology team by attracting and retaining key talent, and fostering talent development programs that build business acumen, customer centricity, and technology leadership skills.

- Build development standards, coding and documentation practices, and drive technology choices that ensure future proofing of the company's platforms and services.

- Promote an agile development methodology that focuses on rapid development throughput with quality, and is closely aligned with business priorities and customer requirements.

- Develop a technology strategy that anticipates and reacts to major technology changes and ensures the maintenance of company leadership position in a very competitive landscape.

Desired Skills & Experience :

- B.E/MS in Computer Science or equivalent with 8-12 years of industry experience.

- Demonstrated success in leading all aspects of technology vision, development and execution in a fast-paced environment

- Demonstrated ability to envision web-based and mobile app services that meet consumer needs and solve business problems.

- High-energy, proactive, creative, team-oriented, analytical individual and leader with a passion for building businesses through technology innovations.

- Highly creative and out-of-box thinker with a strong ability to blend it with research to define a clear technology roadmap

- Mobile product development related experience is huge positive

- Well versed in SDLC with emphasis on Agile

- Industry-relevant experience in the areas such as web scale technologies, Mobile Platform development in retail set-ups are a big positives

- Experience across the full product lifecycle - design, development, testing and implementation.

- Wide and in-depth knowledge of various open source technologies (LAMP framework), presentation/persistence/reporting/ logging frameworks, web/application/database servers, workflow/rules engines, etc.

- Strong experience in the latest web & mobile technologies (LAMP stack, modular HTML, Java Script, jQuery, PHP) and awareness of latest standards. Experience with object oriented design experience and design patterns

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on experience with performance, scalability, and distributed deployment issues.

- Strong executive presence and customer-facing skills. The candidate should be comfortable interfacing with C-Level executives.

- Solid leadership skills, experience in building strong engineering teams, strong project-management skills, proven track record for product delivery.
