Head of Engineering


Job Purpose:


- The Head of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of engineering, maintenance, and facility management for our airports across India. The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of EPC and systems. The Candidate will be responsible for all statutory, regulatory and legal requirements related to Engineering assets.
- The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in airport engineering, construction, and maintenance, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects. Moreover, the candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of experience handling various EPC Packages.


Key accountabilities:

- Develop and implement comprehensive engineering and maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures for all airport facilities and infrastructure, focusing on EPC Works Packages and related projects.

- Lead and mentor a team of engineering professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a high-performing department.

- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of airport development projects, including MEP & PHE Systems (Fire Protection System, LV & ELV Systems, Irrigation and Water Supply, Plumbing and Sanitary Systems, Building Lighting), electrical substations, and civil works.

- Collaborate with government agencies, regulatory authorities, and external consultants to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, aviation regulations and other compliances as applicable.

- Coordinate with various internal departments, such as operations, finance, and project management, to achieve seamless integration of engineering and maintenance activities.

- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and Scope of Work statements for various projects and oversee the processing and verification of invoices.

- Manage project and contract administration, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

- Conduct regular inspections of airport facilities to identify potential issues, ensure proper maintenance, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

- Utilize problem-solving and root cause analysis skills to address complex maintenance issues effectively.

- Oversee maintenance management, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of various systems such as HT, LT systems, power distribution, HVAC, fire protection and detection systems, water distribution systems, and civil works.

- Collaborate with different stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities, with excellent communication skills to ensure effective communication and coordination.

- Develop and implement strategies to enhance maintenance efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize costs.

- Prepare comprehensive maintenance reports and present findings to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key performance metrics and improvement opportunities.

- Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve maintenance processes and systems.

- Prepare/ Review Service Level Agreement for different AMC/ CAMC/ARC/ new project

- Prepare/ Review Annual Maintenance Plan of different equipment based on OEM recommendations/ industry best practice

- Prepare/ Review MIS of Engineering and other assets

- Prepare/ review Annual Repair and Maintenance, Electricity, Water and Capex Budget

- Prepare/ Review Standard Operating Procedure and work instructions

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (degree, training, or certification required) Bachelors degree in Electrical/ Mechanical/ civil engineering or a related field is required.

- A masters degree in engineering and MBA will be a plus.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with various stakeholders, both internal and external.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: (no. of years of technical, functional, and/or leadership experience or specific exposure required) :


- Proven experience of 15-20 years in Electrical/ Mechanical /civil engineering, with a minimum of 10 years handling various EPC Packages and experience in related projects.

- In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, construction methodologies, and maintenance practices.

- Experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams in a complex and dynamic environment.

- Familiarity with safety standards, and environmental guidelines.

Desirable:

- Strong project management skills with a successful track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.

- Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools.

- Membership in professional engineering associations is desirable.
