Head - IT (Contract Logistics)
The information technology director is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions at the location. This includes directing all IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions.

Essential Functions:

1. Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends technical solutions.
2. Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions.
3. Directs operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
4. Produces detailed time line for each application release and implements effective project control by monitoring the progress of the software release and reporting the status.
5. Directs and prioritizes the work load of subordinate personnel.
6. Reviews all designs, code and unit test plans where applicable.
7. Approves all business requirements prior to the technical solution.
8. Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.
9. Represents the IT function at customer review meeting when appropriate.
10. Directs education programs for her/his staff.
11. Perform liaison duties between users, operations, and programming personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications or trouble shooting.
12. Performs salary administration and conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants and/or replacement personnel.
Additional responsibilities:
IT Strategy, Planning & Budgeting:
- Define the overall IT strategy & build IT roadmaps for all three the businesses by considering business growth plans, new product categories and anticipating future stakeholder needs
- Work out a budget to introduce technological innovations and enhancements to existing IT enterprise by scanning the market and evaluating options made available
Support Business- Verticals in Growth Strategy:
- Understand/ Assess the growth strategy/ plan of each business vertical in discussion with their respective business heads and the CEO's office and identify implicit needs to service the business in a cost effective manner
- Formulate- an optimized and cost effective IT plan for all business verticals
- Review and publish monthly status updates on new IT initiatives and operations to business heads and CEO's office
Implementation & Review of IT Roadmap:
- Drive implementation of the IT roadmap and review the effectiveness of the IT function periodically to identify opportunities for improvements
- Review existing IT assets, and assess cost-effectiveness and obsolete technology solutions periodically.
- Approve plan to maintain, upgrade or replace any IT assets as necessary-
- Institutionalize standard operation procedures for project initiation, change management, signoff etc
- Approve IT projects with their budgetary allocations in order to contribute towards the realization of the IT roadmap
- Review existing IT operations periodically to identify more efficient mechanisms to deliver high-quality service
IT Infrastructure & Security:
- Drive implementation of the IT roadmap and review the effectiveness of the IT function periodically to identify opportunities for improvements
- Review existing IT assets, and assess cost effectiveness and obsolete technology solutions periodically.
- Approve plan to maintain, upgrade or replace any IT assets as necessary
- Monitor and review implementation of the roadmap periodically with the projects team, vendors and business stakeholders
- Review existing IT operations periodically to identify more efficient mechanisms to deliver high-quality service
Technology Consultation:
- Provide managerial and technology consultation- to ensure an effective and efficient IT-enabled organization
- Review and approve options presented by the IT projects and operations teams for project implementation
- Keep abreast with the changing technology trends and assess relevance and impact to the organization success
Team Management:
- Build a strong and motivated team of senior solution experts and technology managers that carry out the IT function effectively and efficiently
- Ensure personal development plans are followed through for each individual in the IT team
- Ensure the team is up to date on the latest technology offerings and practices in order to stay relevant as partners to business
