Position: Credit Head

Client: A global services company focused in electronic payments standing tall for the past 25 years is launching the state-of-art digital payments platform that combines best of technology, payment innovation and domain expertise in context to the Indian market. The initiative has been an entrepreneurial venture within the wider organization which is looking to hire key professionals on the business side as it gets ready for the platform launch. An ideal opportunity for someone who is entrepreneurial and believes in making things happen by not only providing strategic direction, but also leveraging his experience and expertise in execution, if required.

Location: Kolkata

Experience: 8 to 12 yrs.

Qualification: Graduate / MBA - Finance, ICWA, CA inter.

Role:

We are looking for a passionate, energetic and self-motivated individual to head the Credit Underwriting capability for the Digital Payments Platform. As a payment gateway business, the business would be engaged in merchant acquisition and hence the credit risk of these merchants. The head of this team will not only be instrumental in managing this risk at all levels but also provide valuable insights on strategic business planning. This role brings in best of both worlds - a start-up and a big stable organization.

Responsibilities:

- Build a road map on setting up the merchant credit underwriting practice for the payment gateway business.

- Identify all information requirements needed to properly assess risk of the merchant at the time of on boarding.

- Set up efficient and thorough processes for merchant credit underwriting and evaluate the creditworthiness of merchants PAN India.

- Build credit models for reviewing merchant credit worthiness by using business model, financial performance, company background, processing history and other representative parameters.

- Take full ownership in drafting and adherence of the credit risk policies and agreements for various stakeholders.

- Build a solid team and train the wider team on best credit practices.

- Responsible for maintaining quality portfolio throughout & maintain TAT as per market requirements.

- Identify alternative credit structures to mitigate risk where appropriate.

- Define controls and MIS for continuous monitoring and reporting for various internal and external stakeholders.

- Meet assigned timelines and ensure documentation requirements are met per the business and audit requirements.

- Embrace all policy and procedure updates and implement necessary changes promptly.

Qualifications:

- 7-10 years of seasoned Credit Risk management professional with expertise in Credit underwriting & Market Risk Management across Payment Solutions Industry or from Banking industry.

- Demonstrated capabilities as an individual contributor and also as a team leader in the past.

- Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities & managed teams. Adaptable and motivated to accept & complete challenging tasks

- Experience in evaluating financial statements, historical trends, projections, management performance, industry, cash flow, capital structure and collateral analysis

- Ability to perform under tight deadlines and produce measurable output

- Adept at thinking on feet and finding solutions to complex problems

- Strong analytical mind set with a bend for data and attention to detail

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
