Head of Commercial
We are currently seeking to fill the role of Head of Commercial in four states - Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi & Mumbai. This is a full time job reporting to the Country Head of Commercial. In this role, the person will be responsible to assign and direct all work performed in the branch and to supervise all areas of operation; manage staff, foster a positive environment and ensure customer satisfaction and proper branch operation; will have a hands-on approach and will be committed to the expansion and success of the business by implementing strategies that increase productivity and enable sales targets achievement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Shoulder the overall responsibility for the P&L of the Branch in terms of revenue and growth
- Direct and oversee the day-to-day activities including operations, sales, marketing and customer service and the overall management of the Branch office with the assistance from support services, viz., human resources, administration, IT and finance.
- Ensure the business is managed in total compliance with applicable laws and regulations, adhering to high ethical standards and to the fullest satisfaction of customers.
- Assess local market conditions and identify current and prospective sales opportunities
- Develop forecasts, financial objectives and business plans
- Meet set goals and metrics
- Ensure teams are adequately resourced in terms of staff and work stations
- Ensure that all the staff are clear about their roles and responsibilities and that unrelated tasks and activities are taken out and redesignated.
- Manage budget and allocate funds appropriately
- Bring out the best from the staff by doing periodic performance reviews and providing training, coaching, development and motivation
- Locate areas of improvement and propose corrective actions that meet challenges and leverage growth opportunities
- Share knowledge with other branches and headquarters on effective practices, competitive intelligence, business opportunities and needs
- Address customer and employee satisfaction issues promptly
- Network to improve the presence and reputation of the branch and company
- Stay abreast of competing markets and provide reports on market movement and penetration
Key Soft Skills :
- Proven management experience, as a Commercial Head in an international Freight Forwarding and/or International Express Courier company
- Sufficient knowledge of modern management techniques and best practices
- Ability to guide and manage Sales & Operations teams to meet their set targets and goals
- Familiarity with industry's rules and regulations
- Excellent organizational skills
- Results driven and customer focused
- Leadership and human resources management skills
- Should be able to communicate well in English and Hindi, both written and spoken, with local and international officials, customers and vendors/suppliers and other governmental and non-governmental agencies.
- Possess the required competency to resolve operational issues and escalations
- Possess good organizational, analytical and time-management skills and be able to multitask.
- Ability to use MS Excel, MS word & other IT software to store/retrieve data and perform ad hoc reporting & PowerPoint presentations.
- Be willing to travel or relocate in a span of 3 years within India or abroad (USA, Australia & Dubai)
- Be willing to undergo industry related trainings in the place of posting within India or abroad
Required Education, Experience & License :
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Minimum 10-12 years working experience in international Logistics industry as Commercial Head or similar role including knowledge in back-end operations in international Freight Forwarding/Express or both
- Must have a valid driving license and own vehicle
- Must have a valid Passport for International travel
