COMPANY PROFILE :

The organization is the flagship company of 130 year old Group, is one of the largest NBFCs in India, registered with the Reserve Bank of India. It has over 3800 branches across India with an average walk in of 50,000 customers per day. The company has a diverse mix of retail offerings catering to the various needs of its customers including Gold Loans, Business Loans, Housing Loan, Auto Loans, Money Transfer, Foreign Exchange, Insurance Services and Wealth Management Services.

Role Purpose :

- The Head of Collections is responsible for managing a delinquency free Loan portfolio. The incumbent is required to do this in a cost optimal manner and also ensure that there are no adverse fallouts due to the collections means employed.

- He is required to build the necessary analytic models to provide feedback to the underwriting team on fine tuning their underwriting efforts so as to avoid on boarding risky profiles.

- He is required to set up sound Collections processes while adhering to the Fair Practices Code.

- He is required to build up the Collections Infrastructure through recruitment of the right personnel, engagement of external agencies wherever appropriate and setting up of telecalling centers to ensure constant proactive customer reach out to prevent early stage delinquency and reduce flows to higher buckets.

1. Primary Responsibility :

- Draft and implement a standard recovery process for the business to cut down NPAs and reduce delinquency across buckets.

- Institute and establish the necessary on ground infrastructure to implement the laid down recovery process. This would include empanelment of advocates to send legal notices and for suit filing. Timely invocation of Section 138 where required.

- Formulate and implement various standard MIS like flow rates, daily bucket-wise position, etc.

- Keep a strict control on collection costs and develop tracking mechanisms for Legal, MIS and personnel cost.

- Recruit and train the right manpower and ensure not only proper coverage of the geographies covered but also that collections is done with due regard to the Company's Fair Practice Code

- Build a strong network of skip tracing, repossession and collection agencies across the country.

- Recover money from written-off pool of assets marked as loss assets.

- Ensure compliance with various laws and regulatory requirements

- Finalise KRA of subordinates and evaluate their performance by conducting timely appraisals.

- Ensure timely reporting of list of defaulters and outline action plan for collection from these.

2. Secondary Responsibility :

- Suggest changes in loan documentation wherever necessary and provide pertinent feedback to the underwriting teams based on collection experience to refine underwriting practices.

- Coordinate with sales teams across regions to improve sourcing practices.

- Develop a network of supporting infrastructure to help with the Collection efforts.

- Preparation of caution list to be shared with the underwriting and sales teams.

3. Approval :

- Re-analyzing and re-scheduling repayment schedules for defaulters

- Initiating legal proceedings

- Finalizing negative list/ caution list

Role Specification:

Qualification:CA/MBA/LLB Experience: 12-15 Years

SPECIFIC EXPOSURE :

- Good leadership, team management and negotiation skills.

- Should possess sound finance background with proven experience in assessing portfolio/ customer risk and devising appropriate collection policies.

- Overall experience of 12-15 years with at least 5 years experience heading a Regional/ Zonal Collections team in a mid-sized corporate.

- A post graduate degree in Management is desirable though not mandatory. Exposure of having worked in different parts of the country would be a plus.

- Should possess good analytical skills to be able to grasp complex financial and business issues and devise practical solutions. Must demonstrate a drive for execution and be result oriented.

- Should have strong process capabilities and an ability to apply innovative approaches towards minimizing bad debt exposure.

- Ability to work effectively in a cross functional team and a demonstrable ability to partner with other departments to enable growth while maintaining overall receivables exposure.
