Job: Head of Business Intelligence

Location: Mumbai or Gurugram
Purpose:
- The Head of Business Intelligence is a senior leadership role within the Group. The role leads an independent function reporting into the Group CIO.
- The Head of Business Intelligence will lead a business insight team, and in conjunction with the Group CIO will work to define the Group strategy and roadmap.
- To deliver a business intelligence deployment plan, to enable the Group to track and manage information, resulting in deeper insight contributing to operational, tactical and strategic decision making.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a high quality data strategy for the Group to support strategic decisions, drive organisational performance and inform continuous improvement.
- Develop an approach to BI which enables the use of effective and appropriate external information and data sources to inform internal decision making at the Group to ensure we maintain a market leading position.
- Work with MDs and corporate leads to develop and embed operational and strategic KPIs across the Group, developing dashboards for group corporate and operational requirements.
- To lead the BI team and to agree any strategic decisions and developments with the Group CIO.
- To provide written summary reports as requested and to communicate and participate in meetings with Board of Directors, Executive and Senior Management.
- To ensure the production of reports, dashboards and insight production. Being able to direct the work of all analysts and specialist developers within the BI function.
- To ensure the utilisation of the BI stack and lead on the production of reports to help the business to monitor its performance against strategic objectives, which may be in the form of visualizations such as business driver diagrams, graphs, charts and dashboards, detailing the significant results they deduced.
- Leading the full lifecycle activities to include requirements analysis and design, to develop analysis and reporting capabilities. Ensure effective engagement with the organisation in a joint effort to continuously monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.
- Fostering trust between the team and business users to deliver insight, build understanding and cooperation to facilitate implementation and the on-going evolution of BI tools.
- Generating and distributing BI best practice across the Group, providing an atmosphere of cross functional collaboration.
- Mentor and train staff including the senior leadership team across the Group as part of a Business Intelligence Competency Centre strategy.
- To line manage the senior BI developer, operational insight analysts and a strategic insight analyst, including conducting regular one to one reviews, motivating, driving performance, addressing any underperformance and supporting where required.
- Collaborate with the organisation to analyse metrics, access the effectiveness of key programmes and initiatives and to locate new process improvement opportunities. Being able to make recommendations to business areas based on data analysis.
- Collaborate with business development and operations on conducting competitor and new market analysis, leading on the data analysis aspects of this activity.
- Engage with operations to produce and distribute performance forecasting information across our operational delivery. Developing smarter methodologies to better forecast initiatives and future performance.
- Provide guidance to business stakeholders including senior management on what data to capture to maximise reporting and analytical output. Lead engagement with external software providers and input into the development of Group's transaction systems.
- To lead on engagement with the IT department to ensure the technology behind the BI tools is fit for purpose and secure.
- Map data needs to operational questions, working closely with management to prioritise business and information needs.
- Ensure the BI team adhere to the Data Governance Policy and internal and external compliance standards and regulations.
- Guard and protect the organisation's data, making sure that the data repositories produce consistent and reusable data through robust ETL processes.
- Troubleshooting data quality issues within the organisation, ensuring the issues are effectively problem managed and an appropriate solution is found to the originating cause.
Education:
- BE/B.Tech/M.Tech./MBA IT from a reputed institute.
- Project Management Certification.
Experience:
- 15+ Years of total experience in Business Intelligence/Analytics.
- 5+ Years of experience in leading Business Intelligence Practice at a large enterprise.
- Extensive end to end knowledge of Microsoft BI Stack/ Tableau/ Oracle BI/ SAP Business Objects BI Suite.
