Head Business Finance
A. Organization Context :
Position Title : Head Business Finance
Department : Finance Location: Hyderabad
Reports to : Chief Finance Officer Reported by: Business Finance Leads
B. Job Objective :
- Be a trusted advisor to the business - Advertisement and Circulation, and help them to make key commercial decisions by providing them with actionable insights
- Design and implement the various initiatives to improve the business performance
- Accurately forecast financial performance and implement plans to ensure the financial targets are met
C. Primary responsibilities :
Strategic :
- Work hand-in-hand with the Director Advertisement & Circulation and develop strategic options for improving business performance
- Pro-actively provide analysis on defined financial intervention points (pricing, cost mgmt. etc.)
- Create meaningful performance dashboard for the business that support decision making
- Provide accurate & timely information on operating budgets, cash flow management, debt management etc. to be presented to the board as an overall picture of company's performance
- Monitor the different financial performance metrics, plan & implement course correction measures (if any)
Core Functional :
Planning :
- Direct the implementation of strategic business plans through initiatives like development of performance measures & monitoring systems
- Evaluate business performance and make adjustments to daily operations when needed to ensure firm's business performance meets overall goals and objectives
- Develop and implement an accurate budgeting and forecasting process
Operations :
- Monitor critical advertisement billing recovery and circulation billing recovery activities
- Oversee month-end closing and year-end closing, to ensure quick and accurate reporting of the units financial data and monitor its business performance
- Implement and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
People development :
- Take overall responsibility for people development initiatives and building up in-house capabilities for the employees in the department
- Drive a performance driven culture in the team by timely monitoring, review of performance parameters and feedback to the team members
- Contribute towards development of talent for the department by providing subordinates with adequate exposure and growth opportunities to enable readiness for higher roles
- Actively participate in HR initiatives to drive overall employee engagement and motivation
- Support capability development programs by identifying and recommending the training areas

F. Educational and Experience Requirements :
Minimum Requirement :
- Level of Education - Post Graduate/ MBA - Finance/ Charted Accountant/ CFA
- Experience - 10 years experience in financial accounting and closing preferably in Newsprint or publishing company
- At least 4 years in a position of similar responsibility
- Possible Grade: M5 to M7
