Team Lead - Credit Analytics & Innovation


Job Purpose:

- Providing analysis and feedback to supervisor and to product, policy, collections, fraud risk teams of the Bank, building scorecards to assess portfolio behaviors. To assess, evaluate and review credit proposals as a first level officer for the CBG/ ECG deals which is referred to wholesale credit involving various products like Term Loans, Trade Finance, CC, ODs and PSR

- Complete ownership of assigned portfolio of accounts including regular monitoring, early warning identifications, deferral tracking and working on appropriate account strategy in conjunction with Business and Credit teams in line with the banks' risk appetite

Job Responsibilities(JR) : 6 - 8 Areas

- Actionable (4-6)

- Appraisal of Proposal Scorecard Building and Modelling

- Managing a suite of products and / or function within the Analytics Team.

- Driving product risk strategy for the specific retail asset products of the Bank with the help of segmentation, statistical/financial models. Advanced models would need to be developed in partnership with statisticians / external vendors and with the relevant business units. Provide analytical and data support to the different teams within the retail lending space in the Bank, mainly Policy, Product, Collection and Fraud Units.

- Responsible for development and deployment of various scorecards / models for the Retail asset products of the Bank within the specified timelines. Ensure the deployment also is line with Bank's strategies so as to gain maximum efficiencies.

- Portfolio monitoring and analysis for the different loan portfolios of the bank with the aim of supporting the policy units in the areas of sourcing and portfolio management.

- Co-ordinating with the internal IT team for providing data support to the various teams within the Bank

- Co-ordinating with Bureau and other Analytics vendors to evaluate industry trends, bureau scrubs, proof of concept experiments, analytics projects.

- Responsible for certain regulatory and compliance related projects/activities.

- Formulating data cuts and strategies to increase cross-sell of asset products to existing customers of the Bank. This would further require the incumbent to operationaliseoperationalize all initiatives pertaining to cross sell from a credit qualification stand point.

- Model validation - the team lead is expected to own and minimize model risk by continuous monitoring of all credit risk models in use by the Bank.

- To continuously evaluate latest trends in the financial industry including "big data" technologies and chart out experimental or proof of concept projects. To adopt the latest trends wrt fintech companies by applying the best-in-class financial models, risk strategiesReview credit proposals (CAMs/ Interim CAMS) submitted by business on assigned set of accounts and assess the risk involved comprehensively.

- To convey a clear opinion regarding the feasibility of the proposed transaction/ proposed facilities, from risk point of view, covering business model, industry risk, structure, financial risk

- Awareness of the product proposed and suitability to the client needs

- Maintaining Complete / accurate CAM's / Coverage and Intensity of Diligence & Adherence to Credit Policy and extant regulatory guidelines

Portfolio Monitoring:

- Ongoing monitoring of accounts including tracking developments in the industry and the account to identify stresses early and work with business and risk teams in devising appropriate mitigation strategies wherever required. Advanced detection before SMA / Rating downgrade / default

- Focused house keeping which involves follow up on clearing deferrals/ overdue/delays appearing in daily MIS circulated by Operations team.

- To identify and closely monitor accounts which are in stress, in order to devise and implement account strategy

- Appropriate level of client calling to develop strong understanding of client business and industry dynamics

TAT:

- Maintaining the defined credit and End to End TATs so as to better service both internal as well as external customers.

Innovation:

- Thinking, evolving and making significant changes in the processes, techniques, methods so as to save time, energy and money.

- Any other assignments depending on the needs of the organization

Interpersonal skills:

- To interact with the relationship managers pro-actively to assess the main risks and propose mitigants, at the deal initiation stage

- Suggesting policy changes or developments,

- Supporting, guiding and handholding the business team.

- Engaging with CAD ( operations team ) to helping and smoothen the process of disbursement.

Educational Qualifications:

Key Skills:

- MBA/CA/FRM/CFA

- Strong technical & analytical skills.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Strong Excel modeling skills.

- Expert knowledge in analyzing financial statements.

- Banking Product & Process Knowledge

- Understanding of SCM Product accounting principles and Regulatory Knowledge

- Excellent knowledge of competition & current trends in financial Industry

Experience Required:

- Experience of 5+ years (min 5 yrs. for E4) in credit risk management in wholesale banking from reputed financial house

- Exposure to banking preferable

- Major Stakeholders (intra team and cross functional stakeholders, who would need to be interacted with for discharging duties)
