Responsibilities -
- Adhering to SLAs
- Mentoring / Training Team Members
- Defining processes and ensuring that the processes are adhered to
- Perform root cause analysis
- Troubleshooting technical issues
- Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
- Understanding of Multi-geo support environment
- Planning Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support
- Suggesting patches/upgrades to maintain security level
- Testing / Auditing/processes as required from time to time
- Audit application backup policies and environments to ensure integrity of backup and recovery activities
- Assist in reporting for capacity planning, growth forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Participate in gathering and understanding detailed data management requirements from customers with a specific focus on TSM.
- Verifying Server health, Managing Tape Utilization, Verifying offsite copy processes (Recall process)
- Verifying Utilization and overall TSM health reporting, Ongoing optimization and process improvement maintenance
- Verifying Schedule management, Management Class and Copy Group administration (policies, retention)
- Provide technical/solution contributions to current operations and to the vision for the future.
- Perform after hours On-Call TSM support
- Verifying Server failure analysis and remediation (e.g. drive/path status, library status, TSM log utilization, etc.)
Technical Requirements
- IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server on Windows & UNIX
- IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Database (Oracle, DB2, SQL etc)
- DRM using Tivoli Storage Manager
- Tape Library (Storagetek, IBM) / Tape Drives DLT / LTO / 3590 / 9840
- Must possess an in depth working knowledge of TSM release 5.5.4. Experience or training in higher releases would be a plus
- Conform to and support systems management disciplines including change management, problem management, asset management, and systems documentation.
- Assist in reporting for capacity planning, growth forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Should have handled TSM Import and Export independently
- Should have Enterprise Management Concept.
- Should have knowlegde on TSM Server Lincensing requirement.
- Should be able to write OS level scripts for TSM server automation
- Should be able to support on TSM Client configuraion, troubleshooting and point-in-time restores.
- Should independently handle TSM include/exclude, backup scheduling etc.
- Familier with Multisession Client transaction
- Should independently plan and implement Backup binding/rebinding concept
- Proficient in Policy mgmt, Media Mgmt, Device/Tape Library mgmt (including OS level command).
- Exposure to DRM implementation and management.
- A better knowledge on TSM Server and Client Options
- Proficient of TSM Architecture, TSM DB, Log etc
- Perform after hours On-Call TSM support.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and conversation skills (Verbal and Written)
- Good documentation skills
- Good working knowledge of MS OFFICE (Including MS Project and Visio)
- Should have a great customer handling skills
- Able to handle unforeseen situations
- High level of acceptance
- Can drive HCL’s value and its methodology
Other Skills / Experience
- Worked on Production systems
- Experience with Backup Migration, Installation, Upgrades and Patching
- Datacenter understanding
- Knowledge of Other Backup tools is a Plus
- Experience in training new team members
- Working Knowledge on Remedy or any other ticketing client
- Storage Management Techniques
