Creativity:
Creative directors will invent new ideas for branding, advertising campaigns and marketing messages. They need to understand design and smart copy, and recognize fresh approaches to advertising. Working on several campaigns at once, sometimes under pressure and often to tight deadlines
Analytical Skills:
Advertising and marketing is ever-evolving, a creative head must analyze trends, look at new data and keep with the times.
Decision-Making Skills:
Advertising campaigns have timelines, and creative directors will need to make decisions on final copy, final art, finished AV and digital campaigns and overseeing campaigns through the production stage to completion
Interpersonal Skills:
Creative directors will meet with corporate heads and clients on a regular basis. Being a good communicator to all involved will help greatly while interpreting their briefs and pitching and presenting ideas to clients.
Management Skills:
Creative directors often have to keep many creatives on schedule, and manage their own time and P&L for the creative team
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- The consistent ability to produce and communicate fresh ideas thought through logic, creativity and imagination
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritize work and multi-task
- Team working skills
- The capacity to deal with stress and work well under pressure in order to meet tight deadlines
- To keep up to date with new developments in the media
- An integrated and creative approach to the media and how the media can be used in advertising
- An understanding of the advertising process
- Acute observation and an eye for detail
- A high level of communication and language skills
