Role summary
GUS - GEI IT Site Manager, responsible for managing IT services at GEI in close collaboration with the global IT team function (e.g., SD and Infrastructure). Participation in the design and implementation of technological solutions implemented on the site.
Within a matrix model, you will be the people manager of the IT resources located in the UK HQ reporting to the global IT functions.
Assist in establishing IT capabilities required by EdTech development units.
The person in this role will have to manage the IT equipment purchase process as well as the local IT budget and will also be responsible for the management of IT providers and the service they provide.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Consulting with internal GEI units or line-of-business leaders to assess and anticipating current and future information and technology requirements.
- Designing and implementing an IT engagement model to identify and shape demand and align IT's offerings with business needs.
- Ensuring delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements and monitoring of IT systems performance, reliability and security to ensure the local business operations (using ITIL as the framework). Playing the role of point of contact for escalations (incidents/problems), change request, etc.,
- Facilitating the rationalization of applications and infrastructure and technologies to reduce complexity and increase business agility.
- Directing and overseeing the management of the IT budget process, costs, and resources for the IT organization in close collaboration with Finance organization.
- Contracting local IT services in close collaboration with procurement and monitoring supplier deliverables against SLAs within the scope of the IT department.
- Manage IT HQ contracts with technology vendors (e.g., telecommunication companies, HW providers) and software licenses.
- Oversees sourcing decisions and scalable vendor management processes. Identifying outsourcing needs and overseeing relationships and contracts with outsourcing organizations and other external service providers.
- Facilitate the set-up of technology capabilities in GEI for the different companies/areas of GUS to develop EdTech solutions (e.g. hiring, infrastructure set up, dev/test environment set, etc)
- In collaboration with the IT SD and Infrastructure team manage the installations, upgrades and configurations of hardware and software located in GUS UK HQ.
- Resolve issues escalated by end-users and escalated issues related to the global system to the global IT team.
- Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software, and other relevant technological tools.
- The role will require a hands-on approach to problem-solving, architecture design, technology project follow-up and IT operations close monitoring.
- Ensure the implementation of the security, compliance (ITGC) policies and GDPR. Ensuring t ensuring the compliance of IT with the local policies.
- Oversees the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enterprise data/systems without disrupting digital transformation and growth.
- Providing oversight and administrative direction in project management activities such as planning, management, reporting, and risk identification for technology projects.
- Managing, overseeing and participating in departmental work; assigning work activities, operations and maintenance projects, monitoring work activities and procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring the achievement of results within the IT unit, providing guidance, coaching and direction to staff on performance management and resource allocation.
- Overseeing a strategic workforce plan's development and implementation to maximize the current and future workforce's effectiveness in light of strategic business priorities.
- Facilitating the occurrence of innovative ideas across the organization, as well as defining a process to capture, prioritize and incorporate into the IT portfolio.
- Encouraging learning from failures and creating a climate of openness to new ways of working, risk, and uncertainty.
