This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following :
- The purpose of this role is to act as Champion, Owner, and Custodian of all R2R Systems and Data for Close and Control e.g. SAP ERP including the ReconNet module, Trintech and RPA, referred to as the GSK - template- . This is a global template covering both Commercial and Manufacturing business processes. In doing so, this role is responsible for the relevant template design for each system and the documentation of associated technical and process designs.
- This also includes the responsibility for defining, maintaining and communicating the global data standards for R2R.
In consultation with the Business, Tech and Operational teams they will lead and support the identification, prioritisation and delivery of system improvements; ensuring they support organisational outcomes and business results to improve upper-quartile performance, and be Future Ready by 2022 whilst remain competitive at all times.
Additionally, they will need to ensure the process framework is sustainable by monitoring adoption and adherence.
This will be achieved by assessing and articulating business requirements, analysing design options, seeking out and assessing solution simplification opportunities where business case justification exists. This will include looking at alternative system options e.g. new cloud solutions. They will drive the business towards common, standard global solutions.
The nature of the role will vary over time; sometimes the focus will be on significant transformation and at other times it will be on keeping the process on track and driving process adoption / adherence.
Role Expectation :
Strategic input - The Digital & Data Director will leverage their skills and expertise to provide input and insight to strategic aspects of the template. In doing so, they will need to :
1. Build relationships and influence at a senior level within the R2R space and with other areas of finance when specific projects require this.
2. Assess the impact of changing operating models and strategic initiatives, partnering with the R2R GPOs to promote alignment to template processes and standards.
3. Act as an expert consultant to strategic initiatives where appropriate, including representing R2R in the wider finance and logistics streams.
4. Chair the Communities of Practice to provide support to live markets as they implement SAP - retrofit- changes, to ensure shared learning, and to maximise standard process adoption.
5. Chair the Cloud Governance board, to provide support to live markets as they implement Cadency changes, to ensure shared learning, and to maximise standard process adoption.
6. Develop a clear roadmap of ERP, RPA, Cloud and Niche tools to optimise finance processes and aligned to policy updates.
Outside-In Views : This role will also partner with their Tech Product Owners to understand new technology opportunities in the marketplace and assess if and how they will improve GSK's processes. They will benchmark against peers to validate GSK's pace of technological advancement and understand how other organisations are gaining cost and efficiencies through Tech. As part of this responsibility the Digital and Data director will represent GSK in external Trintech forums.
The Digital and Data director will also interface with Global Applications and Development to ensure that access to the template is as expected and will ensure that new processes, systems, updates and roles continue to have appropriate processes around them operated by GA&D to ensure adequate segregation of duties and security.
Template Governance : The Digital and Data Lead is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the template. In doing so, they are required to :
1. Partner with the Business stakeholders and the Controllership and Transactional GPOs to initiate template change requests, and in conjunction with the Tech Product Owners, assess those changes in order to determine feasibility and contribute to the business benefit vs cost and effort assessments.
2. Develop and present (or support the presentation of) proposed template changes to the relevant governance bodies for review and approval.
3. Exercise a Power of Veto over requested template changes.
4. Ensure that the template remains compliant with legal, fiscal and/or regulatory requirements across markets/countries.
5. Continually seek to standardise and simplify the template to reduce ongoing business and implementation costs.
SAP and RPA Solution Design & Documentation - The Digital and Data Lead is responsible for defining the solution process design and maintaining documentation thereof. In doing so, the Digital and Data Lead is required to :
1. Support implementation teams through direct involvement in Solution Alignment / Legal Fiscal gap analysis/market/site scoping exercises.
2. Evaluate and critically analyse local market / community of practice requests for localizations or foundation enhancements.
3. Proactively assess solution design against future state business processes and potential future requirements.
4. Understand the SAP and/or RPA solutions at a high level and consult with the relevant functional consultants, where required to resolve issues raised by the business.
5. With governance business case approval (where appropriate), assess alternatives and develop solutions in conjunction with the relevant Functional Consultants and their teams that :
- Are technically feasible i.e. that the proposed design will work and can be implemented in SAP and/or RPA.
- Are functionally appropriate i.e. meets the relevant business requirements.
- Are cost effective i.e. that no cheaper alternative solution exists to meet the requirement.
- Are aligned to the SAP and/or RPA global template i.e. minimised local variation from template.
- Are supportable and upgradeable i.e. limits the amount of custom coding.
- Incorporate appropriate controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. SOX) - working in conjunction with the Controls teams.
- Are complimentary to the global solution and strategic intent.
6. Work closely with Global Business Process Owners, ensuring alignment to corporate strategies.
7. Ensure that global template solution documentation (i.e, GSOPs and BPSDs) are accurate and current.
8. Maintain an oversight role regarding Training Materials.
Trintech Solution Design & Documentation - The Digital and Data Director is responsible for defining the solution process design and maintaining documentation thereof for the cloud solutions used by R2R which in many cases will also be used by other areas of Finance. In doing so, the Digital and Data Director is required to :
1. Be the business owner for Trintech solutions liaising with Trintech and holding the key relationship meetings to ensure service levels continue to be as expected.
2. Support implementation teams through direct involvement in upgrades, patches, expansions in scope and deployments of new functionality.
3. Evaluate and critically analyse local market / community of practice. R2R GPO and other business user request for localizations or template enhancements.
4. Proactively assess proposed and current solution designs against future state business processes and potential future requirements.
5. Understand the cloud solutions at a fairly detailed level and complimentary ERP processes in order to consult with the relevant functional consultants, where required to resolve issues raised by the business.
6. Seek ways to enhance integrations between the cloud template and other parts of the finance digital landscape, including the R2R ERP and RPA environment.
7. With governance business case approval (where appropriate), assess new functionality and develop solutions in conjunction with the relevant Functional Consultants and their teams that:
- Are technically feasible i.e. that the proposed design will work and can be implemented in Cadency or other cloud solution.
- Are functionally appropriate i.e. that meets the requirements of the business and are operationally efficient and effective.
- Are cost effective i.e. that no cheaper alternative solution exists to meet the requirement.
- Are aligned to the SAP and/or RPA global template i.e. minimised local variation from template.
That support the GPOs ambitions to align systems and processes and to simplify and standardise our working practices
- Are supportable and upgradeable i.e. limits the amount of customisation to acceptable levels.
- Incorporate appropriate controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. SOX) - working in conjunction with the Controls teams.
- Are complimentary to the global solution and strategic intent.
8. Work closely with Global Business Process Owners and R2R tower leadership, ensuring alignment to corporate strategies.
9. Ensure that global template solution documentation (i.e, GSOPs and BPSDs) are accurate and current.
10. Maintain an oversight role regarding Training Materials.
Provide an oversight to the R2R GPO and Master Data teams to determine if there are any problems caused by incorrect master data, collating and providing expertise to determine the root cause and provide solutions :
1. Support the Data Manager to provide the Subject Matter Expertise and represent the R2R GPO group with internal customers i.e. Central Data Management Team.
2. Support the Data Manager to maintain the Master Data in line with GSK Standards and ensure that the data is aligned across the systems to support internal and external reporting e.g. Group, Statutory, BISON and ICT.
3. Support the Data Manager to provide input to and approval of the Data Dictionary and / or Data Field Definition documentation regarding definition of fields based on the framework and process provided by the Central Data Management Team.
4. Support the Master Data Project Activities, with triggers for Master Data Project activities including :
- CET/Corp initiatives e.g. Acquisitions, Divestments, Org changes etc.
- Template enhancements to improve the usability of the system.
- Projects driven by other process towers impacting R2R data.

- Senior relationship management and stakeholder management.
- Large scale business transformation experience.
- Experience of Pharma or Consumer Goods / FMCG sector.
- Substantial level of understanding of SAP and/or Cadency systems (or equivalent cloud or ERP systems) at the transactional level and how the solutions support business processes.
- Sound understanding of process simplification and standardization and proven experience in global process roll-out.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills and the ability to work flexibly within a matrix team.
- Knowledge of SAP and Trintech products and a good understanding of ERP templates.
- Possess solid experience of ERP processes within relevant. Process area and integration points with other process areas.
- Sound influencing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Good knowledge of process design, lean sigma and other process improvement approaches.
- Understanding/use of Agile Ways of Working and Scrum/Kanban Delivery.
- Master Data Management and an understanding of how the ERP templates are built.
- Flexible to Work in shift operations to cater based
