Groupon - Data Scientist

Role & Purpose:

We are looking for strong data scientists who are passionate about deriving insights from mountain of data and use algorithms to build machine learning/statistical models that would directly impact business. Responsibilities:

We dive deep into data to come up with solutions such as - relevant deals for customers, best price for a deal, getting best merchants/vendors on board, optimizing product basket, and the list continues- We accomplish this using highly diverse data, quantitative data analysis, machine learning algorithms and optimization techniques.

We need candidates who would:

- Design & develop scalable algorithm to analyze massive data from various sources to generate actionable insights.

- Identify opportunities for improvements in existing system and come up with strategies.

- Brainstorming & applying appropriate machine learning techniques for specific business problems

- Collaborate with other teams for integration & implementation of product/solutions

- Mentor & help team members

Desired Skills and Experience:

- MS in Operations Research, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field. Or BS with proven track record & strong background

- More than 6 years of experience in implementing machine learning models or developing data science solutions or related role.

- Analytics experience in the area of pricing and/or eCommerce preferred.

- Strong background in data mining, machine learning, mathematical modeling, statistical analysis & forecasting/time series.

- Aptitude for large-scale data analysis with a penchant for identifying key insights/trends from data.

- Innovative in approach & strong problem solving mindset

- Expert in statistical tool/languages such as R, SAS, MATLAB etc

- Good in scripting languages like Python (optional-programming languages like C/Java) etc.

- Good understanding of DBMS & SQL queries

- Strong communication and collaboration skills
