Position will focus on realizing results through the following:
- Estimate New design manufacturing costs for High complex Metal Machined parts and assemblies and prepare cost estimates to support the development of New products
- Drive down Cost of Goods by influencing design on manufacturability and costs
- Provide transparency in Product Costing for both Technical costs and Business uplifts
- Create more value and cost down opportunities through deepened assessments of Factory Standard Costs and simulate Supplier & Supply Chain Costs
- Drive modification of parts to determine the optimal cost of the parts and assemblies
- Meet Engineering team and influence the design using your knowledge of optimal manufacturing practices, thereby reducing the manufacturing costs
- Negotiate Technical costs with suppliers to drive down high volume part costs
- Work with Sourcing and Procurement in visiting suppliers to validate Process development, and Manufacturing process flow, and negotiate technical costs
- Create Manufacturing process flows for manufacturability and cost calculations based on those flows
- Deliver the results for Cost avoidance and Cost reduction projects
In addition, you are expected to coach and supervise existing Metal Machining Costing Engineers for carrying out detailed technical and commercial negotiations with our suppliers.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor's in Mechanical/Production Engineering with minimum 20 years of relevant experience.
Or
- Master's in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Production Engineering with minimum 17 years of relevant experience.
Mandatory skills and experience required to perform the job:
- 15 or more years of direct experience in the practice of high-end precision manufacturing of high precision mechanics assembly with qualification
- Hands-on experience in Casting, Forging, Extrusion, 3/4/5 axis CNC machining, EDM, bonding and joining, advanced materials and coatings, additive manufacturing, automation/robotization, precision measurement, and inspection and gauging
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturability of raw materials such as Aluminum and its alloys, Steel and its alloys, Nickel and its alloys, and Titanium
- Specific experience with costing, quoting, estimating, and value chain mapping
- Demonstrated strong Problem Solving and Decision-Making ability by applying structured process or tools such as 8Ds, Fishbone, 5 Whys, Pugh matrix, Pareto chart, etc.
- Experience in driving and managing projects in collaboration with CFT (Manufacturing, Supply chain, Design engineering, Product safety and Suppliers) for project deliverables
- Expertise in Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Serviceability, Cost principles, and Engineering Change Management
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in Semiconductor Wafer Fab Equipment (WFE) domain
- Experience in Plastic materials, Plastic manufacturing processes (Traditional/Additive Manufacturing)
- Experience in Sheetmetal design and manufacturing processes
- Understanding of Supplier advanced manufacturing capabilities and preferably their financial value stream and costs
