Group Head - Legal - CS + LLB/LLM - Conglomerate

A 3000 crore revenue Business Group comprising of companies working in the areas of manufacturing, media, printing and information technology is looking for a Group Legal Head.

Joining location : Manipal

Role reports to the Group CEO

Purpose of the Job :

To oversee the legal aspects of the business, safeguard organisation's reputation by guaranteeing that the company follows law guidelines and give legal advice to management about all relevant issues.

Role and responsibilities :

- Give accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics (labour law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance etc.)

- Collaborate with management to devise efficient defence strategies

- Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance

- Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations

- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust.

- Draft agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights

- Ensuring compliance to all company law related formalities

- Furnishing returns on time as per ROC requirement

- Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation

Knowledge required :

- Proven experience as a legal counsel in business environment preferably in a manufacturing / media / printing set up

- Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures

- Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies

- Outstanding communication skills

Years of work experience : 15 - 20 years of relevant experience

Educational qualification : LLB / LLM degree with CS
