Qualification:

- B Tech/BE/ Graduate in Science (Math/Physics/Chemistry)/B Com preferably with (Hons.)/ Economics preferably with (Hons.), with good quantitative skills and a good scholastic record (1st class in XIIth and Bachelor's degree is essential).

- The graduation qualification will be complimented by a post graduate Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management from a good business school or Social Science Institute.

- Extracurricular record with a record in leadership positions such as School Prefect, Head-boy, Captain of a sports team etc will be desirable.

- 20+ years of relevant experience with last 5 years in a leadership role heading the HR/IR activities preferably for a large engineering, construction or project management company with a top line of INR 5000 Crores.

Age: 45-52 years

- Stable career record. In last job for atleast 5 years and has not made more than 4 job changes in his/her career

Skills Desired:

Strategic and Business Management:

Developing and implementing Human Resources Initiatives, Strategies and policies including:

- Managing a corporate recruitment function for lateral hires

- Talent management, engagement, productivity improvement, performance appraisal implementation, rewards management for about 900 Head Office functional professionals

- Strategic inputs & alignment to the Corporate HR initiatives such as Leadership development and leadership assessment. We have signature programmes such as the Management Leadership Program that is to be implemented systematically for all the aspiring Head Office staff.

- MBA recruitment from the Campuses. This will involve brand building and building a leadership cadre/pipeline of young business management professionals as in leading administrative service/management services for emerging leaders

- The incumbent will also be a part of the HR Council consisting of senior HR leaders of the Company which meets once in a quarter

HR Excellence Model:

- The conglomerate has introduced a unique initiative patterned around the Malcolm Bald ridge Award and the PCMM for continuously benchmarking and improving HR processes in the organization. This process involves assessment, benchmarking and tracking progress for HR process improvements across the GROUP. An important imperative of this job is to lead the implementations of the HR Excellence Model for the participating businesses

Leadership:

- Demonstrate strong leadership and the application of good commercial skills. Should have substance to challenge and question all levels where appropriate for manpower productivity and right sizing.

- Will ensure implementation of HR systems and procedures to enable the organization to achieve high performance and quality standards and recommending changes where appropriate.

- Lead the HR Team for HO HR in delivering a high performance customer focused service to achieve the Organizations objectives.

- Work effectively under pressure and be adaptable to rapid change.

- Use initiative to work independently or collaboratively as appropriate to develop ideas.

- Build integrated leadership capability within all the departments at Head Office

- Customize HR practices / processes and develop capabilities to specific business needs that match global standards.

Strengthening of specific initiatives for HO HR

Performance Management:

- Goal setting, balance score card and performance conversations

- The HO functions serve the business and therefore developing SLAs with businesses is necessary

- Pay and reward strategies linked to ratings and performance

Employee Engagement:

- Run periodical surveys and work out action plans

- Develop a compelling employee value proposition

- Work a PDCA cycle for improvement in engagement scores

Learning & Development:

- Support HoDs, Managers and Directors in nominating staff for learning and development programs both remedial and for high performers

- Develop and customize L&D initiatives for succession planning and leadership development

Communication

- Communicate effectively at all levels within the organization and with relevant external bodies.

- Translate change management principles into effective operational plans.

- Experience of negotiating with suppliers and management of external providers e.g. LinkedIn, Monster, Naukri, talent vendors and L&D vendors

Talent Acquisition and Management:

- Focusing on retaining top talent

- Brand Building in MBA institutes/B Schools and creating a cadre of high performing Management graduates

Competency / skill set desired:

- Patient accumulation of professional accomplishments. Organization believes that the implementation of significant HR initiatives takes 5 years and frequent job changes will deter this process.

- Developing a network and good contacts with the vendors of HR services.

- Excellent oral (public speaking) and written communication skills.

- Leadership gravitas and the ability to "earn" a seat on the leadership team as a respected member who has the all round capacity to contribute in business issues as much as presenting and leading discussions on strategic HR issues.

- A thought leader in HR circles even if the Circle of influence is restricted to a town/city where the individual is posted.

- Strong fundamental skills in handling industrial relations combining tact.

- Ability to build a good HR team and demonstrate the ability to retain and attract young HR talent as a "good mentor" to work for.

- End to end implementation of HR processes that have good institutionalized and have sustained the challenges of good times and bad times

- High energy levels and persistence even when the chips were down while implementing an HR initiative.

- Proven track record in the effective leadership of staff - inspiring, motivating, performance managing and developing.

- Possess the authority, credibility and integrity to command respect at all levels including external contacts.
