Job Description: Deputy General Manager (DGM) - Industrial Relations

Position Title: Deputy General Manager (DGM) - Industrial Relations

Experience: 12+ years

Location: Ludhiana (Panjab)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Industrial Relations (IR) Management:


- Lead and manage the entire gamut of activities related to industrial relations at the factory.


- Maintain harmonious industrial relations with the union and play an active role in the negotiation process.


- Proactively address and resolve labor disputes, union matters, and employee grievances to maintain a positive work environment.

2. Performance Management:


- Formulate and implement a robust performance management system that establishes a clear linkage between performance and rewards.


- Ensure the performance appraisal process across all levels at the plant is completed in a timely and fair manner.

3. Training and Development:


- Identify training needs of employees at the plant by mapping the skills required for each position.


- Organize internal/external and on-the-job training programs to improve productivity, build capability, and enhance quality.

4. Statutory Compliance:


- Ensure compliance with all necessary statutes and regulations through effective liaising with various government authorities and labor consultants.


- Manage labor disputes, union matters, and court-related matters with the support of legal counsel and advocates for IR.

5. Security and Administration:


- Responsible for ensuring the security of the plant and maintaining effective plant administration.


- Implement and oversee security protocols to protect the plant's assets, employees, and operations.

6. Stakeholder Management:


- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government authorities, labor unions, and other relevant organizations.


- Represent the organization in discussions and negotiations with external parties to safeguard the companys interests.

Qualifications:


- Bachelors/Masters degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or related field.


- 12+ years of experience in industrial relations, with a significant portion of that experience in a leadership role.


- In-depth knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.


- Proven experience in handling union negotiations and managing labor disputes.


- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with employees, union representatives, and external stakeholders.


- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.


Ability to lead and motivate a team, and to work effectively under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:


Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.


Additional certifications in Industrial Relations or related fields.


Proficiency in local languages and an understanding of regional labor dynamics.
