Position Overview: The GM/AVP - Blast Furnace Projects will be responsible for leading and managing major projects related to blast furnace operations, including the implementation of new technologies, facility upgrades, and process improvements. This executive role will ensure the successful execution of projects from planning through completion while aligning with the company's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership:
o Define and drive the strategic vision for blast furnace projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry trends.
o Lead and oversee all phases of blast furnace projects, including feasibility studies, planning, execution, and commissioning.
o Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Project Management:
o Manage project teams, including engineers, contractors, and consultants, to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
o Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
o Ensure projects are completed within scope, budget, and schedule, while meeting quality and safety standards.
- Technology and Innovation:
o Evaluate and implement new blast furnace technologies and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
o Stay abreast of industry advancements and recommend innovative solutions to address challenges and opportunities.
- Budget and Cost Control:
o Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and efficient use of resources.
o Conduct financial analysis and reporting to track project expenditures and return on investment.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
o Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, operations, and engineering teams, to ensure project alignment and integration.
o Communicate project status, milestones, and outcomes to stakeholders and address any concerns or feedback.
- Safety and Compliance:
o Uphold and enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance throughout all project phases.
o Ensure that all projects meet environmental, health, and safety requirements.
- Continuous Improvement:
o Analyze project outcomes and performance to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
o Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project execution and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. An advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MSc) is preferred.
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in blast furnace operations, with significant experience in project management and leadership roles.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale industrial projects, particularly in the steel or manufacturing industries.
- Strong understanding of blast furnace technology, project management methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams effectively.
