Position Overview:
The General Manager of Vendor Operations is responsible for overseeing the entire vendor management process, ensuring optimal performance, and fostering strong relationships with key suppliers. This role requires a strategic thinker with a keen eye for operational efficiency and the ability to lead a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor Management:
- Develop and implement vendor management strategies to optimize the supply chain and ensure seamless operations.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with vendors to ensure the best possible outcomes for the company.
- Monitor vendor performance and compliance with contractual obligations and company standards.
Operational Efficiency:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and integrate vendor processes with company workflows.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of vendor operations.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the vendor operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals and expectations for team members, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development of the company's overall strategic plan, with a focus on vendor management and supply chain optimization.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve vendor operations.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks in vendor operations and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in vendor management, supply chain management, or operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing vendor relationships and driving operational improvements.
Skills:
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
