JD:
To lead the companies technology deliverables which would include but not be limited to :
- Product management from concept to delivery
- Customer management and satisfaction
- New technologies and strategy
- Collaboration internal and external
- People Competence and organization development
- Quality and the Pursuit of excellence
Being a part of management the incumbent would have an active voice in the company's future directions of new technology, product development and other factors that impact the company's success.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Role :
- Business Focus : Quantum's GM Technology must be a Business Manager. In saying this, be it the product, the delivery, clients expectation or communication, we would like to see the GM strategically outward focused, and ensure that the technology group delivers exceptional value.
- Technologically Innovative : The GM must show technological creativity, best practice and lead a culture of innovation. Quantum wishes to be seen as having multiple differentiators, and while domain delivers business processes, the translation to innovative technology must come from the GM
- Management capabilities : The GM must have the ability to manage and mould a large and growing team. He should mature the standards and lead by example towards a work-ethic and standard as defined by the Organisation and its Management Team.
- Alignment : The GM must be aligned to the corporate objectives, and do whatever it takes to deliver the - product- that balances commercial needs and technological advances. It is imperative that the GM shows a high degree of energy and urgency in creating the growth drivers to achieve a balance, and exceed the objectives that are defined above.
2. Tactical Role :
- Understands where the organization is. What have been its challenges so far
- Define what the organization must be and define the KPI's and objectives
- Must have a transformational approach.
- Must have a clear team structure
- Must Manage resources from PM downwards
- Define Product Strategy and Road map
- Conduct a process review to consider what is best for the product and the Organisation
- Must be the Bridge between Sales and Technology
- Client Interaction to build what the client wants and deliver as that is where value is added
- Cost Management - He must be aware of the cost of the team and the project to make it more efficient and effective.
- Identify new opportunities
- Oversee the solution architect and the program / product manager
3. Organizational Responsibilities:
Organization Development:
- Participates in all programs relating to evaluations and career development planning of senior resources
- Must have a structured environment which must be agile
- Mentoring the potential leadership.
- Based on the product, clients, business needs he must ensure that training programs are set up for team members. Might be specific
- Manages the development of project teams by ensuring that project tasks are in line with business interests.
- Ensures that the organization has a competent work force.
- Must motivate the Managers and teams and build strong commitment
Internal Operations :
- Easily recognizes areas for internal improvement and develops plans for implementation.
- Lends expertise to internal teams and task forces.
- Reviews the status reports of team members and addresses issues as appropriate.
4. Project Related Competencies
- Solution Development and Delivery
- Provides technical direction for the development, design, and systems integration across multiple client engagements from definition phase through implementation.
- Applies significant knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients.
- Easily recognizes system deficiencies and implements effective solutions.
- Suggests alternative technical solutions to meet client requirements more efficiently, and/or with greater reusability, and / or longer life.
Technical Effort Management :
- Oversees the project manager and their development plans and changes.
- Serves as a liaison between the implementation manager and the client across multiple projects.
- Defines, communicates and enforces configuration and coding standards. Identifies reusable code that is implemented by the PM.
- Manages multiple technical teams within budget and project schedule.
- Assists in sales efforts from a technical perspective.
Technology :
Technical Experience:
- Experience in Microsoft technologies but ideally should be Language agnostic.
- Exposure to new technologies such as AI
- Exposure in new technologies such as Angular
- Project Certification - Scrum or similar.
Technical Expertise :
- Solid fundamentals - understands the product's database
- Possesses significant knowledge of complex database concepts and ensures project teams are effectively employing appropriate database design techniques.
- Possesses demonstrated work experience with more than one relational database management system.
- Understands the benefits of the various programming languages and accurately suggests the use of the appropriate technology for the application.
- Possesses significant knowledge of client/server and internet systems architectures and accurately suggests the use of the appropriate technology for the application.
- Understands browser / client specific compatibility issues.
- Service delivery mechanisms - is able to consider options.
