Job Description
Medlife is looking for a General Manager-Software Development (GMSD) to lead a team of 40 engineers (backend/frontend/QA/devops). The team's responsibility is to build and maintain the software applications and infrastructure that powers Medlife's business. The GMSD will have overall responsibility and accountability for building and maintaining high quality, scalable, resilient and secure software at Medlife.
MANDATORY SKILLS:
Hands-on GM Software Development (70 % hands on, 30 % manage the team)
B.Tech in CS from top Tier-1 colleges (IIT, IIM, BITs Pilani, NIT)
8 years experience in Java/J2EE software development
At least 1 year experience in Node.js
At least 4 years of exp in Spring and Microservices
4 years experience managing software development teams - 40 engineers (backend, frontend, QA, devops)
Experience in Frontend - Html5, JavaScript, CSS3, AJAX, JSON, Angular, React
Experience inDatabases - SQL / NoSQL
Must 3 years of Experience in Cloud - Amazon Web Services
Candidates only from Yahoo, Amazon or e-commerce companies
Experience in Data Structure and Algorithms
Experience with scalable applications and modularity
Candidate Profile:
Exceptional leadership and management skills
Exceptional understanding of scalability and modularity
Experience in architecting, developing and maintaining massively scalable systems
Experience in building consumer facing websites and / or apps
Demonstrated ability to hire, build and manage high performance teams

Medlife International is a startup, which was founded in 2014. The company operates in the form of a mobile app that enables patients to order medicines online. The patient can upload the prescription from doctor in the app. The prescription goes to the internal Medlife fulfillment team and gets fulfilled. Medlife has 3 fulfillment centers across Bangalore. In new geographies, next to its existing business model, Medlife operates by aggregating local pharmacies and ensuring the delivery of the medicines. Currently Medlife operates across 8 Metros in India and is making plans to expand across 33 new cities.
Currently the company is fulfilling an average of 2000 orders per day. Total company size: 300 people
Product:
Medlife has 60 engineers working across 3 verticals. One of the verticals is focussed on the development of products for the patients /consumers. Another team is focussed on the Doctors and a 3rd team is working on developing products for the back end / fullfillment team (inventory, customer support etc.). The company has teams working on both mobile and desktop.
Funding: the company is self funded by the promoters
Management: CEO and co-founder is Tushar Kumar a leading and well known person in the medical domain.
