- Effect cost savings through process improvement
- Study manufacturing process, cycle time, raw material input, logistics, inventory control, etc. to identify avenues where cost can be reduced
- Liaise with manufacturing heads in order to identify key improvements for the division
- Provide support as engineering support for implementation of new projects across divisions E.g support in R&D, scale up, process development, instrumentation, layout, etc.
- Provide inputs on manufacturing excellence by providing direction on reduction in pollution, operability, safety
- Provide recommendations on ideal manning in order to ensure optimum productivity per person
- Establish ideal manning norms
- Rationalise manpower and minimise manpower using mechanization, instrumentation and improvements
- Introduce and inculcate TQM and problem solving methods
- Benchmark industry best practices across the world and identify experts in this field in order to incorporate maximum possible improvements
- Maintain contacts with knowledge experts in order to bring to Atul the best possible technological improvements
- Perform the role of a people manager for the team
- Manage and support recruitment, set KRA's for direct reports, monitor overall team's KRA's, conduct performance appraisal, ensure clarity and delineation of individual roles, appropriate delegation of responsibility
- Facilitate the development of subordinates through constant on and off the job learning, job rotation, etc
- Oversee staff deployment and drive motivation levels of the team, monitor staff welfare and facilitate complaint resolution, manage efficiency levels and drive timely delivery of all operational targets
