Position Title : General Manager IT for R&D
Reports To : Director IT – R&D
Supervises : 10 Internal Employees
Education : MS in Engineering or IT
Experience : 8+ years in the technology area, preference for experience in Pharma domain
Competencies Required:
- 8+ years experience in a senior managerial role in IT related areas preferably of the pharmaceutical industry
- Contemporary IT project portfolio assessment, planning and software delivery practices
- Recruit, manage and motivate people within a large, global, multi-divisional, multi-functional diverse organization. Experience managing and leading a diverse workforce (skills, education & culture)
- Keen awareness of the state-of-the-art in IT Understanding of technical and industry trends and their impact on pharmaceutical R&D.
Summary : Manage IT Projects of Gx Group, and global R&D
Position Responsibility:
To manage the activities of the IT groups in support of the R&D Gx area as well as the global IT projects in R&D. This includes:
- Managing the day to day activities of the IT group in support of the Gx applications
- Program Management of all global IT projects in R&D
- Mentoring of the Application Support and Business Analysts
- Developing the Vision and Strategy for the future technologies in support of the Gx
- Development and management of IT budget for Gx.
Job Profile:
- Work with the IT senior leadership team in R&D to develop and communicate long term IT vision and strategy , aligning scientific & business needs with technical/process solutions, with special focus on leading-edge approaches that will drive the achievement of the R&D strategy.
- Coordinate and direct IT related planning and execution activities related to managing the Gx portfolio
- Project Planning, Monitoring & Execution: Includes generation of business case, project charter & execution strategy, planning of resources (internal/external), coordination with vendors, tracking every activity to closure, working closely with scientific community and ensure timely execution of project keeping in mind desired application security & regulatory compliance
- Establishes successful relationships with leaders across different functional areas to ensure IT projects are implemented successfully
- Monitors project cost and ensure project completion within allocated budget
- Identification of clear cut ‘Roles’ for a project execution. Setting up right expectation on detailed activities, execution methodology & deadlines with the resource identified for a ‘Role’ in the project. Provide appropriate direction, support and feedback to ensure the quality & timely delivery
- Manage project dependencies & client expectations for the successful delivery of the project
- Continue to build a highly skilled and motivated team, securing the best talent available, establishing clear expectations, providing coaching & effective behavioural feedback, as well as individualized development programs. Prepare others to assume new and increased responsibilities in the future. Build an organization that is training ground for future IT leaders.
- Develop and manage IT business capability portfolio by identifying scientific business drivers and appropriate IT solutions to meet those opportunities and allocate resources against prioritized business needs. Manage the IT operating budget for Gx with particular focus on return-on-investment.
