Job Summary:

The Head of Direct and Indirect Tax will be responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's direct and indirect tax functions. This role involves developing and implementing tax strategies, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and providing strategic guidance to optimize the organization's tax position exposure to a direct and indirect taxes should be in ratio of 70:30.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tax Compliance:

- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all direct and indirect tax returns.

- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and update compliance procedures accordingly.

- Respond to tax inquiries and notices, working closely with tax authorities.

2. Tax Planning and Optimization:

- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the organization's tax position.

- Evaluate the tax implications of business decisions and propose strategies to minimize tax liabilities.

- Provide guidance on structuring transactions to achieve tax efficiency.

3. Transfer Pricing:

- Develop and implement transfer pricing policies in line with regulatory requirements.

- Ensure compliance with transfer pricing documentation standards.

- Manage and oversee transfer pricing audits and assessments.

4. Risk Management:

- Identify and assess tax-related risks, proposing and implementing risk mitigation strategies.

- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization.

- Provide guidance on managing tax-related uncertainties.

5. Tax Audits and Assessments:

- Manage tax audits and assessments efficiently, ensuring a collaborative approach with tax authorities.

- Prepare responses to tax audit queries and challenges.

- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders during tax audits.

6. Tax Reporting and Documentation:

- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures.

- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

- Maintain comprehensive and organized tax documentation.

7. Legislation Compliance:

- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.

- Interpret and communicate the impact of legislative changes on the organization.

- Implement necessary changes in tax compliance procedures.

8. Tax Technology and Automation:

- Evaluate, implement, and leverage tax technology for efficiency and accuracy.

- Oversee the integration and maintenance of tax-related systems.

- Ensure the effective use of technology for tax compliance and reporting.

9. Tax Accounting:

- Oversee tax accounting processes, including the preparation of tax provisions.

- Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.

- Coordinate with external auditors during the audit process.

10. Tax Compliance Training:

- Develop and conduct training programs for internal teams to enhance tax compliance awareness.

- Foster a culture of compliance and awareness within the organization.

- Keep teams informed about changes in tax laws and compliance requirements.

11. Tax Credits and Incentives:

- Identify and optimize available tax credits and incentives.

- Collaborate with relevant departments to maximize the utilization of incentives.

- Ensure compliance with incentive requirements and reporting.

12. Relationship Management:

- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities, consultants, and relevant stakeholders.

- Negotiate favourable terms and resolve issues in collaboration with tax authorities.

- Represent the organization in tax-related matters.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field with CA is mandatory as a professional qualification.

- Proven experience in direct and indirect tax management, with a minimum of 8 years in a leadership role.

- In-depth knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles.

- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

- Experience in managing transfer pricing matters.

- Familiarity with tax technology and automation tools.
