Role - General Manager - Detailed Engineering ( Pharmaceutical/Chemicals/Fertilizer/Manufacturing Industry)
Location - West India
The GM-Detailed Engineering role is responsible for overseeing planning and designing of various units, ensuring completion in line with process design. The purpose of this role is to build the requisite engineering capabilities which will provide the adequate technical, design, architectural, construction expertise to guide and support project execution and scale up teams
Key Responsibilities:-
Strategic -
- Review and approve all design plans/blue prints proposed by Civil/Electrical & Instrumentation/mechanical/ Process teams
- Drive value engineering initiatives to reduce project cost and innovative construction methodologies to improve productivity
Operational & Financial -
- Direct and review changes in design as per requirement
- Ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures in quality testing, placing orders for equipment outsourcing, change in design, etc.
- Ensure that all drawings, technical specifications, floor plans meet statutory regulations and various government compliance requirements
- Highlight risks in execution - both technical as well as engineering capacity/ capability related
- Coordinate to obtain additional design support from external experts/design consultants
- Ensure strong Engineering processes such as Document Control, Document Management, Document Archiving
- Ensure Engineering controls (such as inter disciplinary checks) are enforced
- Participate in review meeting for pre-execution activities along with master planning managers, contract and procurement head and engineering team
- Participate in Project review meetings to resolve engineering issues
- Benchmark best practices/tools for engineering and design processes
- Review/ follow up on Engineering Calendar for all projects/bids
- Maintain engineering budgets and ensure adherence to the budget
People -
- Recommend initiatives for building requisite skills & competencies through focused professional development and capability building initiatives for the Detailed Engineering team
- Review workforce capacity gaps within the Detailed Engineering team and ensure timely recruitment in alignment with Corporate HR policies
Preferred Candidate :-
- B.Tech/M.Tech - Chemical/ Mechanical Engineering with 18+ years of engineering experience
- Good understanding of process safety
- Expert in preparation of engineering plan
- Understanding of engineering related risk management
- Ability to innovate
- Expert in value engineering initiatives
