Genera Manager/Assistant Vice President - Civil for Coke Oven Project, Steel Manufacturing Co., Angul/Odisha
Job Purpose:
- The Project Head will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of large-scale projects within an integrated steel plant, including Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), Pellet, Blast Furnace (BF), Sinter, Coke Oven, and Oxygen Plant units.
- The role demands a strategic leader with a strong mechanical engineering background and extensive experience in project management, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution:
- Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of projects in DRI, Pellet, BF, Sinter, Coke Oven, and Oxygen Plant units.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, resource allocation, timelines, budgets, and risk management strategies.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed quality standards.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary project team, including engineers, contractors, and vendors.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including design teams, procurement, and regulatory bodies.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the project team.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality standards and regulations.
- Monitor and report on project progress, providing regular updates to senior management.
Technical Expertise:
- Apply mechanical engineering principles to troubleshoot and solve complex project-related issues.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of equipment and systems within the plant.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive project innovation.
Financial Management:
- Manage project budgets, including cost estimation, control, and reporting.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors and contractors to ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Analyze financial performance and implement cost-saving measures without compromising project quality.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Masters degree or MBA in Project Management is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 20 years of experience in project execution within the steel industry.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale projects in DRI, Pellet, BF, Sinter, Coke Oven, and Oxygen Plant units.
- Extensive experience in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and applications in the steel industry.
