Software Advice, a Gartner company, is a trusted resource for software buyers. The company's website, www.softwareadvice.com, provides detailed reviews, comparisons and research to help organizations choose the right software. The Research Services team provides high-quality secondary research; identifies and analyzes marketing opportunities; and generally provides support for Software Advice's research, crowdsourcing and search engine optimization (SEO) initiatives.
The Researcher will be responsible for the following :
- Correspond with SA team to select, scope and execute multiple research and marketing projects, including: in-depth product research; software user research and contact list-building; SEO reports and analyses; ad hoc projects.
- Conduct research using both systematic and intuitive secondary research techniques.
- Analyze the research findings and draw inferences/conclusions in response to the research query.
- Report the findings in the form of a structured report or a pre-defined framework.
- Deliver projects on time, and maintain high-quality standards of the deliverables.
- Develop strong understanding of the software industry in general, and expertise in assigned domains.
- Demonstrate complete ownership of the tasks/projects assigned.
- Actively participate in formal and informal knowledge sharing sessions.
- Follow internal processes and policies, including, HR, IT and Finance.
Job Requirements :
- Graduate and MBA (Marketing or Ops) from leading A & B-schools.
- Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology from Grade A engineering colleges (specialization in CS, Telecom or electronics will be useful).
- 1-2 years minimum experience in market research industry for MBAs; 2-3 years experience for BE/B.Tech.
- Strong understanding of the IT or software industry is an advantage.
- Experience in an fast-paced work environment, preferably in marketing/strategy.
- Strong communication skills, oral & written: should structure all communication for meaning and flow with strong command of English language.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to think independently. Should be able to work on estimation problems and provide insightful and original analysis.
- Has the ability to use online and other secondary research materials quickly and effectively. Knowledge on online databases, such as: Factiva, Capital IQ, Hoovers, OneSource, etc., will be very useful.
- Market research/consultancy experience: 0-2 years relevant work experience in a market analysis, consultancy, internal research or trade journalism role.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office tools, including understanding of keyboard shortcuts and techniques such as lookups and pivot tables.
- Internet marketing experience, such as search engine optimization (SEO), email marketing and/or content marketing, will be an advantage.
