Job Description

- Manage and Enhance the daily P&L/ product control functions, business reporting and ledger substantiation for FVA desk.

- Lead a team of controllers by clearly defining the direction and creating a very strong culture of accountability and pride in performance

- Working with Front Office to explain their P&L.

- Working with Accounting Policy to agree correct accounting treatment for trades and portfolio.

- Implement improvements to the system infrastructure & control environment. Need to be able to view processes and projects with a global strategic focus

- Production and monitoring of Daily and Monthly KPI’s

- Deliver support for new products and initiatives

- Drive standardisation of process, application and data source.

- Enforce the culture of robust controls and accountability.

Core skills and requirements

Technical knowledge:

- Mathamatical or Financial Engineering degree at masters level is a must

- Knowledge or experience with derivative products in capital markets: e.g. Futures, Options, Indexes, CDS, CDO, FRAs, SWAPs, SWAPTIONs, CAPs/FLOORs.

- Accounting qualification/Understanding of UK & US GAAP treatment

- Strong technical skills including experience using Excel/Access to a high-level (knowledge of SQL/VBA an advantage)

Process knowledge

- Strong understanding of trade life cycle with good appreciation of operational risks and mitigating control activities.

- Good understand of the systems and the shortfalls, able to work around and work closely with IT to develop system and resolve issues.

- Good problem solving skills

Market knowledge & Other

- Show interest and good understanding of the markets including the key drivers, pricing issues, trader strategies and the trader’s views/trigger levels.

- Need to be able to have in-depth discussion with front office with regards to trading activity and drivers of the change in MTM.

- 7+ years experience in a product control / Middle Office environment.

- Strong communication & negotiation skills with confidence to work with multiple businesses & support groups

- Self starter able to deliver results in a complex environment.

- Logical approach to problem solving.

Control mind set able to identify and deliver process improvements
