Senior Analyst- Investment Operations (Global Security Maintenance)
The Global Security Maintenance (GSM) team within the Investment Accounting and Operations (IAO) department is responsible for the set up of issuer and security master records as well as managing the reference data (primary source for the company) throughout the life of each security.
The team supports all domestic and international asset classes -- currency, cash equivalent or money market, equity, debt or fixed income, alternative investments, and derivatives (close to 70,000 active securities, covering over $800 billion of assets under management).
Responsibilities :
Complex Securities Support/Project Participation -
- Participate as a member of the Complex Securities Operations Committee (CSOC) and support CSOC initiatives
- Conduct research, as needed, on new products and its impact to GSM's internal process and workflows.
- Provide subject matter expertise in regards to complex securities / derivatives for GSM
- Provide training & overviews for supporting new complex instruments to GSM members and update/create documentation as necessary
- Liaise with FT Technologies (FTT) and Program Management Office (PMO) on projects regarding complex securities.
- Stay current on industry emerging issues, market initiatives and legislation related to derivatives and complex securities and their impact on operations
Operations Support :
- Set-up, activate, and review new securities
- Monitor security setups
- Monitor, update and maintain descriptive data
- Provide user support for all security master related questions
Shift Timings : 6:30 pm to 3:30 am
Activity :
- Lead/support complex securities initiatives for GSM
- Participate or assist in any special projects relating to complex securities
- Become a SME in setting up and maintaining complex securities and support the team as needed
- Conduct research/analysis on new/existing complex security products and its impact to the team/department
- Support the security setup and maintenance of other non-complex security types
Required Education & Training :
- Four year college degree in business-related field or equivalent experience
- Three to five years of financial experience in securities/investment business.
- Sound knowledge of financial markets and various security types, specifically derivatives
Skill Requirements :
- Derivatives (swaps, options, futures - both OTC and cleared) product knowledge and support experience a must
- Previous experience in financial back office groups such as security reference data, mutual fund accounting and/or trade settlements
- Solid business project management skills/experience - able to support cross-functional project representing the business in front of technology and project management teams
- Ability to gather and research information from external sources, resolve problems, and work well in daily deadline oriented environment.
- Ability to work on multiple problems at the same time and to keep all appropriate personnel apprised of current activity and events.
- Excellent customer service skills (interacting with various external and internal contact persons)
- Solid business analyst skills capturing business requirements and documenting them
- Strong verbal and written communication skills at various levels of management
- Focused on relationship building, including being sensitive to other cultures
- Charles River exposure seen favorable but not required
- Data entry experience and intermediate knowledge of business desktop applications (Microsoft Office)
- Experienced in using a Bloomberg Terminal (preferred)
