Job Description:

We are looking for a seasoned Merchant Risk Lead to join our team and spearhead our efforts in managing risks associated with our merchant partners and acquiring banks. As the Merchant Risk Lead, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust risk management strategies to safeguard our organization against fraud, financial losses, and regulatory non-compliance. Your expertise in working with multiple merchants and acquiring banks will be critical in ensuring the security and integrity of our payment ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute comprehensive risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with our merchant partners and acquiring banks.

- Conduct thorough risk assessments of prospective and existing merchants and acquiring banks to evaluate their creditworthiness, financial stability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Monitor merchant transactions, acquiring bank activities, and payment flows to detect and investigate suspicious behavior, unauthorized transactions, and fraudulent activities.

- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Business Development, to establish and enforce risk mitigation policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory guidelines.

- Act as the primary point of contact for merchant risk-related inquiries, escalations, and investigations, ensuring timely resolution and documentation of findings.

- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging threats, and regulatory changes affecting the fintech sector, and proactively adapt risk management strategies and controls accordingly.

- Provide regular reports, analysis, and actionable insights to senior management on key risk metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.

- Serve as a subject matter expert on merchant risk management and acquiring bank relationships, providing guidance, training, and support to internal stakeholders as needed.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., FRM, CRM, CFA) preferred.

- Proven experience in merchant risk management, fraud prevention, or financial crime investigation within the fintech or banking industry, with a strong focus on working with multiple merchants and acquiring banks in the Indian market.

- Deep knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to the fintech sector in India, including RBI guidelines, PCI-DSS, AML/KYC regulations, and data privacy laws.

- Demonstrated expertise in analyzing large datasets, identifying patterns, and trends indicative of fraudulent behavior, and making data-driven decisions to mitigate risks effectively.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory authorities.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders at all levels, and foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability.

- Detail-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for risk management, data analysis, and fraud detection.
