Associate Director - Learning
Flipkart Leadership Academy, part of the Talent and Learning team at Flipkart focusses on developing the current and future leaders for Flipkart. We believe in building role model behaviour for our leaders who drive the right culture at Flipkart.
We work on maximizing inspirational leadership and supporting leaders in their development by exploring ways to achieve personal peak performance by leveraging strengths and applying greater self-awareness, thereby fostering high permanence teams.
We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Learning Leader to lead the Flipkart Leadership Academy taking the lead in shaping and executing the organization's Leadership Learning initiatives.
This role will drive strategic learning programs aimed at developing leaders, nurturing critical talent, and embedding inclusive practices across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on approach in building leadership pipelines and designing tailored learning experiences that are aligned with the company's growth objectives and culture.
This role will play a pivotal part in creating an inclusive workplace, enhancing leadership capabilities, and ensuring we engage and retain the right talent for our long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership Learning:
- Design, implement, and manage leadership development programs aimed at nurturing current and future leaders at all levels of the organization inline with the leadership competencies defined.
- Partner with senior leadership to assess leadership needs and develop tailored learning strategies to address leadership gaps and future requirements.
- Provide thought leadership on leadership best practices, continuously improving the leadership learning experience to keep it aligned with evolving business needs and industry best practices.
- Create engaging and scalable leadership training materials and delivery mechanisms (e.g., digital content, workshops, coaching) to drive leadership development outcomes.
- Facilitate leadership development programs for Senior Directors, VPs, SVPs in the organization through effective engagement and delivery strategies.
- Foster a strong network of leadership development consultants, executive coaches, academicians you could consult and partner to provide best in class experience for Senior leadership.
- Track the effectiveness of leadership programs using metrics and data-driven insights, adapting initiatives as needed to optimize results.
- Engage in periodic conversations with Senior leadership of the organization as a trusted learning advisor.
Lead Learning Council:
- Learning council is a forum which includes all BU Functional academy learning managers
- Collaborate with learning council members to gather new needs (Behavioral/leadership) on a quarterly basis to design and execute learning solutions.
- Govern the organizational learning metrics along with the council members and strategize ways to improve the same on a continuous basis, providing all necessary support to the council while holding them accountable for the outcomes.
Key Talent Engagement:
- Build and manage a robust succession planning framework to identify and nurture high-potential leaders for critical roles within the organization.
- Partner with HR business partners and senior leaders to engage, develop, and retain high-potential and critical talent.
- Design targeted retention programs for top performers, ensuring they are aligned with career growth and developmental opportunities.
- Ensure that leadership learning and development efforts are inclusive, accessible, and offer equal growth opportunities to all employees.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the HR, business, and senior leadership teams to understand organizational needs, leadership gaps, and key challenges.
- Provide expert guidance and consult with senior leaders to help them become better coaches and mentors for emerging talent.
- Work closely with internal communication teams to effectively communicate leadership and D&I initiatives across the organization.
- Build and present compelling narratives backed by data to CPO/CPO staff and senior business leaders to influence critical decisions for the leadership development and key talent charters.
Learning analytics and governance:
- Build and deploy a strategy to capture all learning activities across the organization at its source and automate analytics related to learning through effective tech solutions to have a single version of truth
- Audit learning reports and conduct monthly governance reviews with all key stakeholders including Learning council members and drive actions as relevant
Team Leadership:
- Lead a team of learning professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities to ensure high performance.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that supports organizational goals.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Certified in psychometrics like HOGAN & DISC etc. Certification in Facilitation skills is a plus
Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Management, or Organizational Development, with at least 4 years in a leadership role focused on CXO level leadership learning and development.
- Alteast 2 to 3 yrs of experience managing 3 to 4 L&D professionals as team members
- Proven expertise in building and managing leadership development programs, succession planning, and talent engagement.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, particularly in an eCommerce or technology organization, is preferred.
- Prior experience in managing senior-level stakeholders (VP, SVP) and influencing organizational change.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage with senior leadership, employees, and external partners.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to design, track, and measure learning and development initiatives.
- Knowledge of best practices and globally emerging trends in leadership learning, talent management, and D&I.
- High level of emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity.
Key Competencies:
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align learning initiatives with the long-term vision and strategic objectives of the business.
- Change Management: Experience in leading organizational change through learning initiatives and people development.
- Influence & Stakeholder Management: Strong relationship-building and influencing skills to work effectively with senior executives, managers, and employees at all levels.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Comfort with using data and analytics to inform decisions, track program effectiveness, and measure outcomes.
